I did the prep thing; insulated pipes, wrapped faucets, went back and let them run, not just drip both inside and out, kept heaters going and cupboard doors open under the sinks, put a heat lamp on at the well tank, etc. and the pipe coming from the water tank with a heat lamp 14" away from it under a tarp still froze as soon as the temp fell to12*.
Millions of people, where they almost never even use heaters, on 7 days notice, who have mostly probably never seen a freeze, and have no idea how to prepare for it, should have been abe to round up all the recourses they needed for this in 7 days. I bet there aren't enough fuel powered heaters in that part of TX to cover 1% of the population.

If he fed the US poor the left would spin it that he was neglecting world events. Arctic blasts get down to the coast more often than people think. It snows on the Alamo couple times a decade. And we get ice storms that coat the roads almost every year. 2014 we had the big blizzard come through the Metroplex that gave cobblestone ice on the roads. It happens.

TX is purple. No doubt this drive from a lot of southern states (TX, AL, NC, FL) to recruit from KALI and DC is going to destroy what made these states great. Already done so in NC, AL is becoming more blue each and every day. TX is just about blue, I know all you Texans don't want to admit it; but it's true.

Well said! Sorting through it all, natural gas not flowing seems to have contributed as much to the failure as anything, power plants were starved. Not exactly what we want to hear.
If you consider I've experienced over half a century of Texas weather, which included using a canvas tarp as a tent, the same material humans have slept and lived in during survival situations, coupled with a heat lamp under it, you may want to rethink your stupid comment.

Just do a little research, read just not what you normally want to. Natural gas wells froze, once storage capacities were emptied, those plants could not run at capacity if at all. Coal fired plants were down for scheduled maintenance which is standard procedure for low peak times, which winter normally is there.
