Hype and a fancy bottle. When I first started drinking Blantons it was the same cost as ER. In a blind test, you’d be surprised how many prefer ER to Blantons.

Old elk is good. It’s a rather sweet, easy drinker. I try to always have one open.
I don't think that is available in VA,,

I'll check the VaABC website,

Finishing off a bottle of this being the commies in TSA won’t let me bring it on the plane.

Costco special for $10.
Not a huge wine guy, but it went well with a steak Monday night.

El Dorado 12 is one of my favorite rums
Try Ron Centenario from Costa Rica.
20, 25 or 30 year if possible. Incredible.
Also, El Dorado 25 is next level. Way beyond the 21. Hard to come by but damn!

How does that Madeira finish compare to the standard Portwood 21? I have to confess that my last bottle of the Portwood left me a bit disappointed - it wasn't bad by any means, just not quite up to the level of quality I've had before. It seems to be happening to a lot of whisky brands lately.

Both are ok IMO but not mind blowing. Probably comparable. It’s been a minute since I’ve had it and don’t have any now to compare. Moved on to tequila 😎🍻

The angels sing with every sip.

Bless me Father for I have sinned.

First for this season.

I'll let out a dirty secret.

With Apple brandy or Calvados the younger stuff is better tasting than the older. That being said if you don't have something from Laird's you are a dirty communist.

If you don't have any Laird's products in your stash, I'm sorry but you suck as an American.
I have to confess to total ignorance of the existence of this spirit until you posted up. A little research came up with the following description of it:

"A nice alternative to cognacs or Calvados. It is to Calvados what armagnac is to cognac – a cousin from the provinces (or in this case the colonies) that has more texture, body and aroma. All around, an interesting tipple that is worth a try."

I'll have to search it out now. (y)

Whiskey/whisky derives from the gaelic uisge beatha, which means "water of life". The similar sounding slavic vodka comes from wodka/woda which means "little water". It appears that there's a very ancient Indo-European common root word for "water" at the source of all of these names. So we're all on the same page, more or less, and have been for thousands of years. Cheers! 🍻

It’s older Blantons. Eagle rare and Blantons always had the same mash bill when I checked.
No. Blanton's has the high rye mashbill (No.2 mashbill). Eagle Rare the low rye mashbill (No.1 mashbill) The Wheated mashbill rounds out the three that Buffalo Trace uses.
