I am assuming these are 100 yard groups? If so I would try your tests at 300 yards or farther. Best load I found for my 260 will only shoot about .75 inches at 100 yards on any given day but it will hold that .75 inches out to 300 yards pretty consistently. The biggest it gets at 300 is about...
I guess that leaves me with another question then. I thought the comparator took a measurement were the bullet contacted the lands. What exactly are you measuring with the comparator then? Is it just to a more consistent spot on the bullet as meplats are far from uniform?
This load is all over the internet a works well. Use either hogdon or imr 4350 somewhere between 42.0 to 43.5 grains and jump the amax .030 to .060. I promise you will find something in there. If not then your gun is just weird.
This is just something I was thinking about since I want to try some different bullets in my gun. And I would just test it out if it was possible to find a 260 rem modified case. I'm hoping someone has tried it already and can tell me if its a bad idea. The rifleings in barrel are a constant...
ogonzalez 13 I am running 180 grains sierra game kings in mine and ran into pressure signs at 56.5 grains of 4350. Your top end seems reasonable I would probably push it to 56 grains if I was shooting 190's. But that's just my opinion on my gun your test seems reasonable and safe.
I haven't the problems with inconsistency but I have found that my new 260 brass began to burn a small pin hole in the necks at 3 firings? It's only a few of them but still annoying with the prices and the difficulty in finding components these days. It doesn't look like a split but I'm still...
I cant say if the twist will be fine or not or how well the 105s or 107s will shoot as I have no experience with this caliber. But if the barrel is not what you want you can get a new one and still only be in the rifle for $1500 at most. Also I too am wondering what exactly in fragile about...
The savage lrp will shoot better than the vast majority of peoples abilities all for about $1000 I think mine was like $990. I like the triggers and I think they are fine as long as you don't try and run it at its very lightest and the actions are awesome. For a varmint rig I don't think you...
