Maggie’s What are you drinking right now!?

Tonight, it's Brimstone. If Scotch is barley smoked in peat, Brimstone is corn smoked in Texas scrub oak. Tastes like the West smells.

    New old member

Hello, I am new to SH while being old. I joined in 2009, read it for years, and had a good number of posts, but when the site was taken over by Scout I lost interest in the shenanigans and left. Happened to run across it again, and lo and behold, my old login is still active. Lots of new reading...

    Jon Beanland

I have one of Jon Beanland's rifles - it is the most accurate thing I own. Any faults are definitely mine. It's chambered in 6.5x47 Lapua with a Surgeon action. Picture of it on his site:

    Maggie’s Official Artwork thread...?

Here's my current favorite painting. It's quite large - about 4 feet by 6. I love her work. It's on the wall about 5 feet to my right as I post this.

Maggie’s What are you drinking right now!?

woojos, if you like the Laphroaig 10 year, you would really like the 18. Second best Scotch I've ever had, in my opinion. Best was a bottle of 30 year old Laphroaig someone gave me. Incredibly smooth and still smoky. Wish I could get more....

New Site Read First Before Complaining

I am set to Linear Oldest First, and every thread takes me to the first page, not the first unread item. I tried all the settings; none of them render starting at the first unread post. The Forum view correctly shows which threads I've seen or not seen, it's just unable at this time to point to...

    6.5 x 47 favorite load?

Re: 6.5 x 47 favorite load? 38.0 gr. Varget 123 scenar BR4 primers 2910 fps Shoots better than I do through a Rock Creek barrel. Another tack driver from Jon Beanland. Seems to like almost any load.

    That's not Varget! -- 6.5x47 Lapua

Re: That's not Varget! -- 6.5x47 Lapua Perhaps I should just keep buying Varget. The rifle shoots very well with it. I could avoid all this mucking about trying to find the Holy Grail. The rifle doesn't seem to care about the load - it shoots them all well. It's a Beanland.

    That's not Varget! -- 6.5x47 Lapua

Re: That's not Varget! -- 6.5x47 Lapua How about VV N135? The burn rate chart at reloadbench.com places that immediately next to Varget. I have a couple jugs of that too.

    That's not Varget! -- 6.5x47 Lapua

Re: That's not Varget! -- 6.5x47 Lapua Yow. What's it good for? Should I sell it to my brother to use in .223?

    That's not Varget! -- 6.5x47 Lapua

I thought I had 4 8 pound jugs of Varget. Getting into the second, I dug out and opened the other box, to find it's Hodgdon Benchmark. I've been shooting 38.0 grains of Varget behind a 123 grain Scenar, quite happily. Any ideas where to start with the Benchmark? I searched online but could not...

    This could have ended badly

Re: This could have ended badly I recently had the same thing happen to me twice within a couple of minutes. The rounds were 6.5x47 Lapua loaded with 38.0 grains of Varget, CCI BR primers, and 123 grain Scenars. I needed a hammer to open the bolt, and it took a fair amount of work to get the...
