Re: Reason for a tactical bottom? Strength of the trigger guard is why I chose mine. It is a PITA to carry slung across your back though.

Re: Trigger & Barrel ? for a model 70 300 Win Mag I have a Bartlein barrel. It is great, but like the post above said there are lots of great barrels to choose from. As far as a trigger, a properly worked over factory Win trigger is really hard to beat.
