I listen to all of his podcasts. I don’t think he’s a Fudd. They rarely ever talk about guns or gun control for that matter. I do remember him saying some about ar15s that wasn’t super duper positive but if I remember correctly that was in reference to hunting.

+1 for silencer shop. They do a great job of making the whole process as simple as it can be. Even better is if you have one of their kiosks near you. First things first, find what you want to buy and then figure out what you need to do to buy it. Find an FFL that deals with that stuff...

I really like YHM stuff for the money. Their QD Mount is one of the best. If you’re worried about blowback you can always get an adjustable gas block for around $50. Even then you’re still going to tend to get more stuff blown in your face than normal. Without one you definitely will.

If mirage is a problem for you then yes, it can help. I haven’t had an issue with 22 cans. Especially not on a bolt action. The only time one of my 22 cans gets hot is when it’s getting shot full auto. But then you’re not worried about shooting accurately.

Where are you finding RL 26? I can find H4350 around me and online, but I haven’t been able to find any RL 26.

I’ve probably shot 120 rounds so far through it. All but a handful of them have been suppressed. Could the extra gunk in the barrel from the suppressor cause a carbon ring with so few rounds?
