I just picked up an Arken Optics SH4 Gen 2 4-16 scope. I got it based on a couple of reviews and the price seems very low. Now, I know the old adage "you get what you pay for", but the reviews came from some shooters I feel are respectable. Does anyone here have any feedback on them?

The real question is why would you purchase something and then ask for opinions? You made up your mind enough to buy it, so…

Who the heck asks for reviews after they bought it? There's an extensive thread on the general topic of "has anyone used arken optics." If you got a lemon and wan to bitch about it, just state the problem in your new thread (don't bury the subject).

Arken Optics is good stuff. Best bang for the buck out there IMHO!! I love all my Arken products. I have the EP4, SH4 4-16 and the 6-24 as well.

My Dad had an Arken SH4 that had to be returned due to incorrect tracking............over 2 mils off at a mere 5 mil adjustment. Scope had less than 50 rounds on a 6.5 creed before going tit's up. Not to mention the fit/finish was pathetic. This was a first gen. I sure hope the newer models they have are much improved. Glass was on par with an Athlon BTR. I didn't find anything about it impressive...."for the money"

The Gen2’s are phenomenal!!

Is this your company? Asking for a friend. Any I mean really any professional precision shooter using an Arken optic with satisfactionary results? Why are you pushing these scopes so much?

Show me you placed under the first 5 in any “real” comp and my friend may try one.

I mean really, if anyone starts a thread asking what valuable scope to get you’re directly all over it……

Just another Arken shill.

I will never understand that need for validation

Not my company. I use them, and believe in them. Tracking is awesome, zero stop is super easy to use, FFP, tons of internal travel.

Arken is specifically made to help out the beginning shooters, and those that don’t have a bunch of funds to dump into higher end glass. They are to help everyone to get out there and shoot. And I appreciate that!!

So I am not supposed to ever talk about a scope that I like again?!? Or a company that I believe in?!?

Whatever…

Search function is your friend...why do people need validation all the freakin' time...regardless if its optics or a car they buy...or socks from Amazon...

Validate my purchase...do it...do it now...

Seems like these posts happen right before they receive shipments in...just saying...

I've had very little time behind my Arken SH-4 Gen II 6-24, but it's not a bad optic for $450 shipped to your door. My primary use is .22LR bench @ 50-100 yards and it does that no issue. I like being able to use the scope to spot impact shooting 1" rimfire targets. CA is a bit on the high side at higher mag, but that's to be expected. Is it in the same class as my Razor Gen II 4.5-27? No it is not. But that's almost 5x the price. So take this all for what it's worth. Phenomenon scope? No, but it is a solid choice for the price point. I do LOVE the turrets, zero stop, parallax adjustment, mag adjustment, fit & finish. I bought an MOA version.. probably should've waited a few days an opted for a MIL (Razor is MIL.) I may ask Arken to swap for MIL, but I've also heard MIL folks getting lemons. Might just keep what I've got and live with it.

Again, for me, 50-100 (may try and stretch out to 300 yard steel ding'n sometime) is my intended use.

Just thought I'd share, no shill from me.

Made in china thats all anybody needs to know . That means do not buy its garbage through it in the dumpster .
Whenever possible we need to support almost anyone other than China. Sometimes we aren't given a choice, but when we are, it's an easy pick to me. Plenty of glass from the Philippines and Korea at a low entry level for scopes. Burris, bushnell, and a host of others have gone this way. Hard to justify supporting a government that has told you their aim is to crush you.

Looky looky a promotional email from Arken…it’s like clockwork from these guys.

Everytime there is something on the forum. We get emails…

I am looking at a few sub-$500 FFP scopes right now and they are all made in China. Arken (SH$ Gen2 4-16x50) is one of them is looks like a very decent scope. I think there is a lot of misplaced hyperbole out there on Youtube (everyone's favourite dipstick Tiborasaurus Rex, for example, assured us that if you have Arken, there is no need for S&B), but for what it costs I like it.

Whether to buy a scope made in China, is an entirely personal decision. I clearly spell out where the product is made and how the sample I have performs. You can make your own decisions from there.

If you want something with a similar feature set that is not made in China, you should be stepping up to somewhat more expensive Phillipine-made products like Vortex PST Gen 2, Primary Arms GLx, Crimson Trace Hardline Pro, etc.

When it comes do "value" optics, I have found discontinued optics make great deals if you can find them at clearance pricing.

With the Bushnell Elite Tactical 3 just around the corner, the DMR 2 is back down to a very nice price at $900. I picked up mine from Midway's clearance a few months back and have been really impressed by it on my 6.5 Creedmoor. I especially like the reticle, but the tracking is perfect and the glass is pretty decent. It makes me wish I had also picked up one of the Bushnell SMRS LPVOs back when they were on clearance, too.

I'll double down on the Bushnell DMR optics...dollar for dollar...I doubt you will find one better...their LRTS 3-12X44 is still one of my most favorite optics ever...in FDE...non-illuminated...the glass in those were just awesome with spot on parallax and turrets...

+1,000,000

The king of value optics had to be the Steiner P4Xi 4-16X56 that @gr8fuldoug had on clearance for the longest time. For about $800 delivered, it was a hell of a deal.

I kick myself for not buying two of them.

I'm not sure the if this is "value" or just super cheap, but I bought one of these for my 22. 4-14 FFP with a tree reticle. $130 on ebay
Pretty much everything cheap is going to be chinesium.

I also have an Athlon 6-24, I think its the Argos BTR? $250 on Amazon.
