I know some folks regret selling a firearm that they bought. But do you have a firearm that you bought, that you couldn't wait to sell. For me personally it was a knockoff Ithica Model 37. I bought it just as a stopgap until I could find a decent real Ithica 37. However, it was complete junk. I wasn't happy at all. Sold it back to the gun shop that sold it to me. Only lost $20, so it could have been a lot worse.

I have a sig mosquito and a Kahr pm9 that I bought on a whim and after holding them in my hands for a few minutes tossed them in the safe and never touched them again.
I don't often sell anything I just buy more safes...

ETA Kahr cw380, mossberg 20 ga bolt action, Rem 34 for a project, UZI parts kit.... Probably more

M1A...... built by "7.62mm Firearms (Chris)"........ Long story.... A lesson learned.

Springfield Armory's SAR-8 (their version of an HK91). The one I got had the welded on scope rail on the upper receiver and the finish was horrible. Never shot it, sold it within a week of getting it. Definitely a case of not seeing a firearm in person first and just ordering one.

HK USC. just really clunky and trigger was a total sponge, even after sending it into them to fix/improve it. plus only 10 round mags unless you spent some money.

Springfield armory XDS 9mm with grip safety.

Bushmaster AR with the plastic upper. Took it as payment for a debt owned. It was crazy light. It was also the least accurate rifle I've ever seen. Groups at 100 hovered in the paper plate range. I held if for years and finally dumped it in the last covid panic. Every time I looked at it, it aggravated me. On the plus side, I about tripled my money consigning it at the local gun shop.

S&W M&P15-22. Had three of them, all three of them had constant out of battery discharge issues. Tried all different kinds of ammo, they all did it. I know everyone and their damn dog says theirs is magic fucking rainbows -- mine were unicorn shit. 3 of them. Got rid of all three, was very clear to buyers they had out of battery discharge issues. Took a ding on all 3 for that reason, of course. Will never buy one again.

That's pretty bad, too, 'cause I've owned some pretty shit guns that were horribly unreliable garbage (thinking of you, little jennings .22 pistol) -- but even they were both more reliable and safer than the M&P15-22.

I'm with you. I have one and it's garbage Either fails to feed or fails to eject every magazine. What a turd.

After 2000rds I finally wore it enough i no longer have any issues with ftf or fte........wish I had bought a 10/22 everyday though

    Remington 700 ADL, 200th Anniversary in .243.

Got it at Wal-Mart on clearance in 2018 for $360, so I looked past the shitty pressed checkering, the plastic trigger guard, and the sprayed on bolt jeweling. It shot crappy factory Winchester Power Point 100gr ammo well too...so I looked past the sloppy and stiff action, and the tendency for the round to nose dive and jam.

It's fate was sealed when I (my own damn fault) didn't get clear enough of some brush last hunting season, clipped a branch, and missed the largest deer of my life. I traded the rifle off as soon as I got a chance.

Those run like a Colt rifle compared to a Jager AR74. It's a German/French M16 looking 22LR rifle. It had a cool factor because it really did it's best to look like a M16. Wasn't much of a shooter and it's failure rate was higher than Steve Urkel's chance of getting a date to the prom.

Interarms Mark X Mauser in 30-06. It must've been made first thing of a Monday morning after a festive holiday.
Iron sights canted to the right, rear scope base holes off center, action felt and sounded like rubbing two bricks together and it had a two stage military style trigger that was creepy, gritty and would support the weight of the rifle without breaking. Oh, and the LOP was about right for Lurch.
Base holes in the reciever ring were ok so I fitted a one piece redfield base and d/t a new hole in the bridge.
Swapped the trigger out with a take off from WWIl era Nazi K98k that after a bit of polishing turned out right nice for what it was.
Deburred and polished the rails/ bolt and that smoothed the action out considerably.
Also chopped an inch and a half off the butt and refitted the butt plate.
In the end it actually shot pretty dang good with factory ammo.
I hunted with it enough to kill a couple deer but just couldn't stand those cockeyed sights.....
Took them off and plugged the holes but that ruined the looks so I sold it last deer season for $75 more than I had in it.

I purchased a older black powder rifle from a friend not sure why I did it I don't shoot black powder but I never wanted to get rid of it I just have no use . I wanna be a gun hoarder not a buyer /seller lol also 2 870's , a sort of nice rem 700 with a wood stock mostly I got that and a couple cap and ball pistols cause the previous owner could not take them with him into an assisted living facility and his kids were only too quick to tell him all his stuff was to be sold , sad that but 6 of his guns were protected for a little while longer at least till I pass .

AFAIK those are still banned from use in Appleseed events.

Mossberg Patriot .308. Would hold minute of barn all day long. Had to send it back once. They told me there were no issues. The stock and the barrel had been replaced when it got back to me. Couldn't find a load it was happy with so I sold it for essentially what I had into it.

Taurus .38 ‘bodyguard’ Revolver. Impulse buy, salesman sold me on “made on the same line as S&W but half the price”. I used that lifetime warranty three times before I sold it and bought a S&W.
Also a Marlin XS7 in 243. I couldn’t get it to group with any ammo. My gunsmith took it to find what it needed to shoot groups. He gave it back 3 months later and recommended I sell it. Stubborn to a fault, I put a Boyd’s laminate on it, stiffened the mounting screws, continued to try every weight brand of ammo I could find for it. Bought dies and reloadEd for it. Finally sold it last fall for about what I had in it and sold the dies and brass and bullets to someone here on the hide. I came to HATE that rifle.

I wasn't a fast enough learner so at one time I had a Beretta 8040 and then I purchased an 8045. The 8045 was a jammomatic and after the second range trip I was like this thing is a POS. Shot it maybe once more. Sold it. The 8040 I sold on consignment as well. Now, I sort of wish I had the 8045 because now I know it was likely the magazine springs and it was "metal" and now worth a shit ton more than the 400 I got out of each. That said, the Beretta grip is huge and the DA/SA sucks as well. So, really no regrets.

I traded another gun for a Taurus PT111. What a mistake. Total piece of shit.

A few years later I apparently hadn't learned my lesson, and I bought a brand new Taurus G2. Same deal as before. Garbage.

Only two guns I can think of that I regret buying.

Got a few. Ruger sr22 that would not sight in, Q fix that i loved but it shot marginal( best group i had was 5/8”, which was not enough, wish it had a 16” proof barrel, maybe would have been better, but the Fix Fix aka sig cross is better, for less, fixed all of the fix issues, but I don’t own one, my buddy does), mosin negant, sks, all my ak47’s, ks47 from psa that blew goats, my 50a1 and prob some other shit. Bout all i do miss is hk’s but without a giggle switch they are just too heavy and not modular enough.

    In no particular order:
    AMT Longslide .45 - POS jam-o-matic. Couldn't feed it with a spoon
Charco Bulldog Pug .44 spl - Great concept, shit execution. Firing three cylinders and the barrel shroud started to walk off the barrel
FN PS 90 - Worse trigger than a Glock (and that's saying something). If I was lucky I could get MOS (minute-of-sofa) accuracy at 50 yards

Reading the thread title, I was going to say "I usually only make informed purchase decisions"..

Then I browsed thru and had the horrible recollection - that I'd almost wiped from my memory - that I once bought a Taurus as well.

I got most of my money back in trade on a new G26.

Brand new Para Ord 1911, hammer pin was drilled so crooked that the finish wore off from racking the slide a few times. Never fired it, brought it back to the gun shop. Joke was on me though as the gun shop offered me a new Savage mod 12 varmit in trade which I took. That’s still in the safe, can’t give it away, lol!!

I have the luxury of coming from a good home with my old man working in a gun store. They offered him the job when he retired because he was one of their top customers.

Essentially, he made those mistakes so I don't have to. Like how he bought a m&p, spent good money on a trigger, and then the 2.0 came out with a better trigger from the factory.

Whenever I'm buying something I ask him how many they've sold. I get a kick out of his rants on some of the stuff they have 50%+ returns to the factory and they still won't come back working.

Remington VTR in .308. Action was as smooth as two pieces of sandpaper sliding together, always shot a one hole group, until you fired the second shot. Would not feed factory rounds or reloads from the magazine to the chamber. Made me pine for the Remington’s from the 60’s and 70’s. (We still own a 700 from the middle 70’s that is silky smooth nice wood, reasonably accurate and kills deer)

Bought a 92FS. Took it to the range once and it sat in my safe for years. Then someone local wanted to trade his NIB CZ457 for one. I couldn't contact him fast enough... what a great trade for me.

yeah i traded my 92 for a glock 17, just don't like the sa/da trigger pull switchup.

I got a good deal on a Ruger P90, took it to the range once and listed it for sale that night. Total POS

Larue AR lower that fought being assembled every step of the way. Bolt catch pin hole was anodized over, coating was so soft it marred just looking at it, grip screw threads were F'ed up...

Larue OBR 7.62. It never had the accuracy I was after and would always put three together and two out. Multiple rounds of testing alongside FGMM as a control. Sent the upper back for inspection, and everything checked out. Nope. Sold.
