I think we’re all saying the same thing here: Get the rifle in it’s intended firing position, then at the same time, Make sure your reticle is level when you tighten the rings. Criteria #1 can be met by getting behind the rifle with whatever natural cant you put into the gun. Or you can...
No experience shooting it yet, but it’s 8pm here and looking at landscaping down the street with the scope in hand and scanning for a neighborhood cat... I can see the cross hairs at all power levels over trees and bushes, with enough clarity to easily make out larger critters. But I...
This particular scope goes down to 6 meters so about 20 feet. My other scope is 10 M or about 33 feet. But many scopes lowest focus is a lot more, 50 or 100 yards, so that would be tough to do in a normal house. But you could still put a scope in a mount of some kind and do this on your...
I wanted to check the tracking on a few scopes I have, but didn't have an opportunity to make it to the range... So I decided to try tracking them against a wall in my living room. I'm sure I'm not the first to do this, but I did a quick search and I didn't see any info about doing this...
I tighten the ring screws in very small increments on opposite sides until the scope is tight enough to not move anymore and then torque as needed. You tighten too fast and they walk on you. I don't have Spuhr mounts but it seems it would work that way on those, too. Same method for the...
I ran across this the other day and tried it out. I agree it's best to get the rifle comfortable and then level the reticle, and let the zeroing process deal with any natural cant. But in the case of a new gun or setup where you don’t yet have a preference it's also nice to just be able to...
I just got a Midas Tac 4-16 that I plan to put on my CZ455. Nice turrets, overall fit and feel. Optically clearer than my PST 4-16x50 and maybe slightly clearer than my SWFA SS 3-15x42. Reticle is a bit fine but should be good on the .22 for targets and PRS style shooting because it’s not...
For what it’s worth, I have the SWFA 3-15 and it lets me see 22LR holes at 200 yards better than my Gen 1 PST 4-16 does .308 holes at the same 200 yards. Not by much, but it is noticeable.
I agree on trying to pick the best ammo, but if you’re starting from scratch you’ll definitely be able to figure our your dope and whack the targets with the $3 per box CCI SV. Then from there, start fine tuning your ammo choice, for sure. But last week one shooter was using the CCI SV’s and...
So far I’ve made 3 of these .22 PRS matches and they’ve all been a ton of fun. Each time the stages have had good variety and this last one had targets at a bunch of odd distances and not on even 25 yard intervals. I’m really getting hooked on this... So much that I just finished bedding my...
How would you guys rate it compared to the SWFA 3-15x42? I’m in the market for a 3-15 or 4-16 for an AR SPR rifle, and this Diamondback might fit the bill. Or maybe put it on the CZ455 and the SWFA on the SPR...
I have a Timney in my CZ455 and when I first installed it, the firing pin wouldn't stay cocked if the trigger was set too light. You could see through the little hole in the case of the trigger the polished surfaces of the hammer and sear (I'm guessing) simply wouldn't stay engaged and keep it...
Today I finished modifying my Boyd's Pro Varmint to have an adjustable comb. I used stainless 1/4-24 cap head screws, some stainless all-thread couplers, and some brass tubes to make stand-offs to set the height. Not nearly as slick as the Manners T4A on my centerfire, since it requires...
Same here... last month I shot in the .22 match, first PRS style match I ever attended and it was a blast. Everyone was nice enough to let me try their bags, and afterwards I wanted to drive into CS and pick one up but like you said, they are closed Saturdays... I am planning to go shoot the...
Agreed, College Station is close by, but it's more like 2 hours once you make the trek up 290... I'm pretty familiar with it, having gone to A&M and making trips to Houston every once in a while. Now that I live here, going to College Station always seems like a real hassle... It's surprising...
My 455’s bolt will come out once in a while if you’re too aggressive. At a match recently others commented that it’s not uncommon and just to take it easy on the bolt. It’s a short throw so it’s easy to yank on it too hard. It happened to me maybe 3 times out of 300 rounds but then never...
I have the 3-15x42. It's a nice scope for the money. A bit clearer than my PST Gen 1 4-16x50 at max power, although a little more sensitive to head placement and alignment. But overall I really like it.
