Re: Am I the only one........ Well, the Sinclair dry fire thingy slides into the bolt, but the bottom dimension is not "deep" enough to engage the hammer. I think that it could be modified to work. (Another day)
Re: Am I the only one........ I just got one of those AR15 dry fire thingys that allows the hammer to cock with 1/2" stroke of the handle. I haven't been able to see how it (doesn't) fit, so I will experiment and report. http://www.sinclairintl.com/1/1/9243-ar-...-marketing.html
Re: Online Copy of FBI 308 Ballistic Tests Thru Glass? The disc through Buford is worth the request gymnastics. It contains a metric ton of rifle data (308, 223, 6.5) and handgun data. It certainly provides an objective view of raw data. Buford was easy to talk to and very helpful, even...
Re: Any LEO depts. issue 6.8s instead of 5.56? I am familar with an agency that is discussing the option. They have had poor 223 performance versus barriers.
Re: Droid "Shooter" ballistic program Thanks Rafael! I bet youare correct that the weather data in my databook is not spot-on, so that is probably why my fired data is not matching the calculator. Junk in = Junk out.
Re: Droid "Shooter" ballistic program I just got a Droid and I have been playing with the program versus my fired-data. It seems to be very close. I am trying to find a way to add a "correction factor" to get the data to match for future use. Any ideas?
Re: Advantages of Mid-Length Carbines for LEO's Nice. That was a well written summary. The only departure I have from the write up is that that I think that overall barrel length is the most important factor in a rifle's "handy-ness" to a LEO. I really like ~11.5". You give up some...
Re: Barrel Burn-Out Thanks LL. I was thinking that, but I could not find any data. I am getting a GAP AR10 with a Bartlein, and I don't want to do anything to harm it...but I plan on shooting it, at sniper matches and 3-gun. The 3-gun is where there will be some "hosing". I am (still)...
I had read in a couple of different threads that rapid fire in a match grade barrel is detrimental to the barrel. Is there some "rules of thumb" to how much or how fast you can shoot a match barrel? Thanks!
Re: Objective research on Barrel Break-in procedures Thanks Jeff. I appreciate the consolidated positions of some great guys. I was left wondering if their position is the same in factory and custom barrels.
Re: Recommend me a tripod. For field use, I like the Slik tripods. They are tough, and relatively inexpensive. If for some reason the tripod gets mangled, you won't cry a river because of a ~$100 tripod. If you are a professional photographer using it everyday or very often, a nicer one...
Re: FTV...Shooting Tripod!! I just finished a low-buck shooting tripod just like yours, and was getting ready to squirt it with Krylon tomorrow. I got a smoking deal on a $100 tripod for $20 off of ebay, and built a similar PVC rest.
