Well, i also just realized that I don't ahve a torque wrench that goes down to 20 in/lbs, lowest I have is 25 in/lbs. So, how critical is it that I use a torque wrench for the base. I obviously don't want to overtorque, but I don't want to undertorque it either, and what about the rings...
Re: Remove bedding from receiver to mount new base? Thanks for the hair dryer suggestion. I will five it a try. I spoke to them at dicks and they said they use Devcon.
Well, I just got my EGW base and removed the old 2 piece base. It apperas there is some sort of bedding compound put there by the guys at Dick's when they mounted the scope there. I tried removing it with Acetone and Goo Off, but they didn't work. So, I scraped it off and got most it off, but...
Re: My W.O.Tac 4-14 Hmm, I am still waiting on my Wotac. I hope I don't have any issues with mine. Maybe I just should have saved up for one of the bigger names. Well, I guess I will find out soon.
Well, my Wotac 4-14x50 should be here soon. I will be adding an EGW 20 MOA base. The rifle is a Remington SPS Varmint. I believe I should go with the lows but just want to see what others have to say. Thanks. Rob
Re: Base height? Thanks for the reply, but my question was how can I tell how many MOA my base is if I have no idea what base it is and it is not marked. So, is there a way I could measure it and therefore tell if my base is 10MOA, 20 MOA, etc?
Well, I ordered the Wotac. Now I need rings and want to get the right height Burris, either medium or low. But I am not sure of the height of my base. Is there any way to measure how high they are to see what MOA? Also, it is a 2 piece and it is marked L36 in the rear and L46 in the front. I...
Re: Falcon Menace 4-14x44 or Wotac 4-14x50? Well, I am going to be ordering the Wotac today, along with some rings. Hopefully it will get here before this weekend and maybe I could out and shoot it. Thanks everyone for all your input. Hopefully the Wotac will make me happy. Rob
I have received plenty of feedback on how great the Falcon is. But how about some feedback on the Wotac, and which would be better. After doing some initial looking I think I am still leaning towards the Falcon, but would like to see if anyone has some experience with both and can help me make...
Re: Millett TRS-1 or Falcon Menace 4-14x44 FFP Ok, so that is one vote for the MIL version. If I go with the MOA version, will I regret it? Anyone else have input on which version. I do like the enhanced reticle more, so that will most likely the be the reticle. Thanks again.
Re: Millett TRS-1 or Falcon Menace 4-14x44 FFP Thanks everyone for all the input. It looks like Falcon is the way to go. So, which reticle do you think would be better and MOA or Mil adjustment? I am new to this whole long range thing and don't have a preference myself, but I guess it also...
Re: Millett TRS-1 or Falcon Menace 4-14x44 FFP Thanks everyone for the input. I have been leaning towards the Falcon. I do like the lower price of the Millett though. If I did end up going with the Millett, will I be disappointed? My rifle will mostly be a paper puncher, and might...
Hello all, I want to add a new scope to my Rem 700 SPS Varmint, and both of these seem to fit the bill. I am just not sure which way to go. Any opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks.
