    Gunsmithing Older Jet Mill Quality?

If that is a current picture it looks like it is still under power, have the owner take it through it's cycle and listen to it run. Then that and price should give you a good idea of ""Deal or Not a Deal".

    175 SMK's at Long Range ?

Hello All, Not sure where this would go, so I'm starting here. On an AR 308 Precision Rifle platform shooting 175 SMK's @ about 2600 - 2650 FPS do you believe this would work for shooting steel out to 800 meters? Thanks jaclthr

Gunsmithing Chamber reamers and tooling makers?

I have reamers from PTG, JGS and Henrikson and I stay with them since their design is the same and all my bushings interchange using a screw to hold them on. Clymer and Manson reamers are identical types using a small "C" clip to hold the bushing on. I prefer to mess with the screw other than...

    Gunsmithing R700 dented case mouth

If it is from too much spring tension causing the plunger to push the case against the chamber you could push out the keeper pin in the bolt for the ejector and remove the spring, cut off a coil or 2 and replace. See if that will help. If you cut off too much a new spring is only a 2 bucks...

    DPMS GII Magazine

OOPS ! ! They are both GI's I guess since I built them on DPMS upper & lower sets from a couple of years back, 1 is a 22" precision DPMS setup with a 12 twist Bartlein chambered for 175 gn SMK and the other is a 16", 10 twist with the Brux barrel turned down to minimum diameter under the...

    DPMS GII Magazine

I have 2 DPMS .308's and have fired rapid fire on pig hunts and slow fire at the range with no problems using Pmags and DPMS Mags as well. I know the Pmags are GIII's. I just received 3 of the 25 rd. to see if they will clear on a prone setup to use on pig hunts as well.

Gunsmithing Why is re barreling so expensive?

Have you tried sitting down with this gunsmith and ask him what is done for this price or what all are you asking him to do? If you have concerns you should be able to sit down and talk it over, that would be part of getting to know a guy and starting a working relationship at this shop. It...

Gunsmithing question.. a barrel extension pin "should" be pinned INTO the barrel right?

I torque my barrel nut extension on to the barrel to 100 ft.pounds and then drill into the threads and pin in place. The pin and nut can still be removed if need be but it won't turn off and this has worked well in .223 and .308 gas gun builds.

Gunsmithing Need advice on a suppressor for .338 Edge with 11/16-24 threads

I agree with jonaddis84, cut the barrel and go with 3/4 - 24. It would be stronger for a heavier can and give more metal around the bore.

Help me find a reason to keep my 700P

Hello Sir, If it isn't costing you anything to keep it then why not? It is like money in the bank(or safe), it isn't going down in value and if a real need comes along then you have this to sell and get started with. Until then you have a quality back up shooter if that need arises. I...

DBM for Win. Pre-64 Model 70

The Pre - 64 Model 70 is not the same bolt spacing as the Post - 64's. I talked to the people at PT&G and they told me theirs would not fit a Pre - 64, they are working on a new DBM that might fit but not sure when they will be out. I looked at CDI web site and their list is the same. They show...
