Gunsmithing Go gauge question

From what I can tell, go no-go gauges fit families of cartridges. Do you use the same set of gauges for .243 Win, 260 Rem, .308 Win? My manual shows specs for the bottom of the shoulder as exactly the same but the top of the shoulder has a different length for each.

Gunsmithing Can U identify these triggers?

I've got these two Rem 700 triggers. I'm pretty sure the left-side one is an adjustable X-Mark. I'm not sure about the one on the right, which is non-adjustable. Are there variations in the X-Mark line. Pic #1 Pic #2 Pic #3

    Versa-Pod wobble

I just bought a versa-pod bipod. This is the first one I've seen up close. It has a lot of looseness in the primary pivot joint and on the shaft. This looseness results in the pod flopping around and making noise while carrying. Is this normal for these?

    Gunsmithing Clearcoat over krylon?

What's a good product for covering krylon? The krylon tends to be soft, attract dirt, and react poorly to oils from your hands and face.

    Range Report 308 Win, AMax 178, RL-15

Conducted my first test of the Hornady AMax 178 for .308 today. I'm very happy with the results. I think I found two accuracy nodes; one around 2630-2640fps and another at 2712 fps. Both under 1/2 MOA. I bet if I had a...

Gunsmithing Bedding Rem 700 5R rifle

This is my first attempt at bedding a rifle. If it weren't for this recession, I would have paid someone to do it. That plus the excellent write-ups found on this forum gave me the impetus to give it a go. Listed below are some links to other threads on the Hide that I found particularly...

    178 Amax .308 @ mag length

I'm wondering about how the .308 178 Amax performs out to 1000 yds when loaded to between 2.820 to 2.850"? My Remington 700 mag measures 2.850" ID. I've read elsewhere here that the Amax likes to be loaded long. What velocity are you using?
