Re: Glass for LTR You could keep it in the family and get a Super Sniper 3-9x42. I've never used one but I've heard good things. FFP, mil/mil, 3x on the low end for hunting and 9x is plenty to get you to 600 yards. And well below your budget.
Re: Cheveron reticle in something besides an ACOG? Don't waste your money on anything. Just practice your fundamentals and do a lot of dry firing at home to save ammo cost.
Re: Why 18 1/2" ? Isn't min. legal barrel length in Canada 18"? I think I remember this when I was researching why a lot of short barrels for M14s were 18.5" and that was the reason I found.
Anyone have a pair of these and could comment on them? I'm looking to make my first bino purchase and these seem like the ticket. I'm looking for a good general purpose binocular. They will be used mostly for hunting and hiking/wildlife observation. My budget is under $1000 if you have anything...
