Thanks for all the replies. I have another set of the same exact loads that I used for this OCW test. I'll rerun the test using these loads to confirm the node at 23.7-24.3. If the node is confirmed, then I'll load as suggested from 23.6-24.4 in 0.2 gr increments and see what that tells me.
So I finally got a chance to go to the range and test my loads for my SPR chambered in 223 Wylde. I ran an OCW test at 100 yards using Lake City brass, CCI BR-4 primers, 77 gr Nosler Custom Competition projectiles and Varget. I loaded them all with a very light crimp using a Lee Factory Crimp...
I've checked my 700P with the Hornady OAL gauge. Damn thing has such a long throat that if you wanted to load ammo to touch the lands, you'd have to load them to 2.96" OAL. I just stick with mag length and I'm very impressed with the accuracy.
I have the same rifle. My 700P loves the two following loads: 168 gr hpbt (either SMK or Hornady), 44.5 gr of Varget, CCI large rifle primers, 2.80" OAL 175/178 gr SMK/hpbt, 43.5 gr of Varget, CCI large rifle primers, 2.80" OAL
Re: Loads For .308 Winchester Does anyone know what kind of muzzle velocities I can expect using 178gr A-Max, 43.5gr of Varget and CCI 200 primers? I'm using Federal GMM brass neck-sized only, trimmed to 2.005" and I'm seating to 2.82" COL. Will I be able to get out to 1000 yards reliably? My...

Re: Using a mil-dot at half power Thanks for all the advice you guys! So let me get this straight, let's say for example, I need 2 mils of hold-over at 20x but I want to shoot at 10x. Does that mean that I would hold-over at 1 mil when at 10x?
Re: Using a mil-dot at half power I think I'm confused now. Some of the guys are saying you have to double the mil reading for ranging/hold-over and some are saying you have to half it...
I wasn't sure where to put this topic and I did a search but couldn't find anything. Let's say for example, I have SFP scope with max magnification of 20x but I want to use the mil-dots at 10x, is there a way of compensating for the power? Can I multiply or divide by 2 (20/10 = 2) to get the...
