Score at a yard sale!

Re: Score at a yard sale! Hell for that price I would have bought it and I don't even own a 308W anymore. Great find!!

    Powder recs for gap crusader

Re: Powder recs for gap crusader Look no further than Varget. Yes, if I remember strait the 1:11.25 twist was developed for the 175gr SMK. And also look here for several hundreds of load combinations (should answer most any other question you have about the 308Win)...

varget lot to lot variances UPDATED PICS

Re: varget lot to lot variances UPDATED PICS FWIW, I've noticed lot to lot changes more in other powders than I have with varget. I rarely see much changes in the varget. When ever I open a new lot (I buy 8 to 16 pounds of the same lot at a time), I take the chrony to the range with me and...

    What do you guys think...

Re: What do you guys think... I prefer to shoot groups trying to accomplish the same thing (just my personal preference). Reason being is that if you pull a shot or two, you may have seriously altered your results. I'd hate to have the results of my latter test rely completely on me being...

ROFL Iraq wants $1b from us for "Damage"

Re: ROFL Iraq wants $1b from us for "Damage" How about a billion dollars worth of carpet bombing dropped instead. Then the place WILL look much better!!

Re: OK, WTF?? BTW, this ^ ^ is the reason LC crimps there primers in the first place.

    OK, WTF??

Re: OK, WTF?? Could have been brass fired in an machine gun with an out of spec chamber (most of these have loose chambers to start). M855 is a hot load anyway, and in an out of spec chamber it could have probably created some loose primer pockets. I haven't bought any of the "once fired"...

    Why a 7 twist AR?

Re: Why a 7 twist AR? Not trying to start an argument but just to back up what I previously stated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M16_rifle "While the ideal twist rate for the SS109 projectile is 1:9 inch/1:229mm, a 1:7 inch/1:180mm twist rate was chosen to stabilize the much longer L110...

    Why a 7 twist AR?

Re: Why a 7 twist AR? The military uses the 7 twist to stabilize the longer tracer rounds. I'm guessing most people are not going to be shooting tracer rounds out of their personal AR's. 8 twist is all you will need for anything that you are going to load to mag-length anyway.

Day at the range with new Sako Trg22

Re: Day at the range with new Sako Trg22 I love the triggers on those TRG's. Wish I could get one like it for another rifle.

    New 308 Lapua brass

Re: New 308 Lapua brass My guess, based upon using Lapua brass is that you will require about .6gr (+/-) less powder to achieve the same velocity. Thats been my experience anyway.

Gunsmithing Rem 700 firing pin keeps breaking

Re: Rem 700 firing pin keeps breaking Tripwire, I think I will continue to listen to the professionals at Rifles Only who get paid to teach people how to shoot. When your shooting resume is as impressive as theirs, I'll listen to what you have...

Gunsmithing Rem 700 firing pin keeps breaking

Re: Rem 700 firing pin keeps breaking Tripwire, Dry firing is the next best thing to live fire. Its also easy to diagnose problems in your position and technique when dry firing. Are you contributing to this thread? You obviously have not subscribed to the online training. If you had...

Range Report LPR 6.5x47mm Lapua range report

Re: LPR 6.5x47mm Lapua range report Nice looking rifle, LA Precision turned out another work of art! I really like the 6.5x47 round! I'd like to know what velocities you are getting with that 22" barrel. That is the length I am building my next rifle in (6.5x47L of course). Btw, My 2 best...

Need help picking softer shooting, long range cal.

Re: Need help picking softer shooting, long range cal. 6.5x47 is a great little round. You will get to 1000yards and beyond easy with little recoil. However I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't reload. If you are going to buy factory ammo, the then creedmoor gets the nod.

Range Report 260 20" barrel report

Re: 260 20" barrel report Were those chrony readings with the 123gr Scenars? What was your load for that? I don't have a .260 but I am curious.

    190gr SMKs in 308 win.

Re: 190gr SMKs in 308 win. I've shot thousands of rounds of several different bullet weights in the 308 cartridge, and the best performer at long range for me was the 190SMK's. You might have a different experience. I think the reason you see a bunch of them in stock everywhere you go is...

Range Report Range Report 6.5x47 Lapua

Re: Range Report 6.5x47 Lapua The sticky bolt may have more to do with the brass being fired in another chamber, then chambered in your rifle (not all chambers are the same dimensions). I have gotten brass stuck in chambers before from using somebody elses once fired brass (even after I FL...

    Hornady .308 Match Brass Thickness

Re: Hornady .308 Match Brass Thickness When I was using the Hornady Match brass I think i was using a .333 bushing. Its good brass! You may have to bump your charge up a little to get the same velocities that you are getting with the Federal (probably .5gr)
