Gyro stability 155gr Lapua Scenar vs. 168gr Hornady HPBT match

I know, they're a bit slow. Using single based powder. The 175gr are running out of my 20" at around 2450fps.

Gyro stability 155gr Lapua Scenar vs. 168gr Hornady HPBT match

I've checked the Berger twist rate stability calculator to find the gyro stability of a 155gr Lapua Scenar fired from a .308 20" 1/12" twist at 2600fps at 20F and 300feet. It gave me just marginal stability (the BC would be reduced about 8%) . In comparison, the 168gr Hornady HPBT match at...

    bullet pointing and BC consistency

Pretty interesting. The only problem I got, that I can shoot up to 300m only most of the time. :(

    wind reading downrange

Pretty interesting. Will work on that. I also thought, it's more easy to sport mirage at higher magnification. Will try it at 20x and also take the binos.

    wind reading downrange

I've some difficulty to read the wind downrange. At the shooter's position it's fine using the feel method and a Kestrel. However, if your FFP is located in a calm area, it should be even more important to be able to read the wind downrange. At my range, the vegetation gives some signs, but...

seating depth, vibratory pattern and muzzle velocity

When I develop a load for my .308, I keep the seating depth (0.010") at the same value for all the rounds and just change the amount of powder. The loads with most consistent SD in velocity usually also get very tight groups. For me, there was no reason to change the seating depth so far. But...

    bullet pointing and BC consistency

Interesting, but how to do that? Do you measure the drop at a range? But other factors, like environment, muzzle velocity variation would have in influence on that. I've no idea, how to measure the real value of the new BC.

    bullet pointing and BC consistency

According to Bryan Litz, pointing of bullets (those without a tip) can increase their BC. But how can I know the new BC they got? Wouldn't that mean, that I cannot rely on the BC data provided by a ballistic solver anymore, but would have to provide own data for the BC? Otherwise, all the...

AB Analytics, BC, velocity and twist rate

I've played around with AB Analytics (desktop build 0060) a bit. I'm interested, how the retained velocity will change when another rifle twist is used. E.g. 12" vs. 11" vs. 10". Interestingly, the velocity column doesn't change at all (but the windage and drop columns do) . Is that the...

    sight height

Just for the sake of interest, how is the sight height measured correctly? JBM defines the sight height as: Till now, I measured it from the center of the bore to the center (radius) of the objective of the scope. Some thoughts: 1) What if the scope is mounted in a tapered scope base, e.g...

Redding competition neck sizing die runout

I'm also using the no-lube bushings. I've heard from a lot of people, that they're pretty happy with the Lee collet. But how can you know the actual tension provided by the Lee die? Do you use different mandrels inside the die to modify the tension?

Redding competition neck sizing die runout

I've checked the runout outside neck of some fired cases. Was between 0.001"- 0.0015". After that, I neck-sized them with my Redding competition neck-sizing die and a .336 bushing. Measured the runout again. Compared it to the measurement taken before. It has increased for a lot of cases...

Hahaha, I got the same question over and over when I tried to register in the last 2 weeks. Also have no idea about cricket. -)) But I spent 2 hours of my life finding out information about the sport just to register there. Just because of the failing security check.... -))
