    F T/R Competition 175 to 155

I can't think of any reason to use a 175 SMK over a 155 Scenar(155 Hybrid is good too). It is fairly easy to get close to 3000 fps or above in a FTR rifle. I get them over 2850 in a 20" barrel and run them about 3040 in a 30" tube. I am definitely not saying the 155 is the best mid- to...

Hunting & Fishing Argentina dove/ duck/ stag hunt shotgun needed

A pretty good percentage of hunters will end up shooting a gun that belongs to the outfitter. The gun they end up with will probably be a Beretta. While shotguns from both brands will serve most hunters a lifetime, the ones with the Beretta name are better built than their Benelli...

Hunting & Fishing One top tier all around hunting rifle

Don't know if many would consider it "top tier," but I would vote for a Sako L61R FinnBear. I have one that is about 50 years old and will never get rid of it. It has a great trigger and is more accurate than it needs to be.

Hunting & Fishing How do you feel about crossbows

While it doesn't really matter to me personally, I think an early archery season should be "bow only" to give hunters that are forced to hunt on public lands the opportunity to do so without the added pressure that comes from allowing crossbows. In my state, crossbows used to be legal for...

Hunting & Fishing .270 Bolt Action Hunting Rifle...need help!

I have several hunting rifles, including a Tikka T3 Lite, Kimber Montana, BAR and several 700s. All of the choices discussed above will work for your needs. With that said, it is hard for me to go deer hunting and leave my old Sako Finnbear in .270 at the house. While it may be 50 years old or...

Hunting & Fishing Looking for a German Shorthaired Pointer

One of the best dogs I ever owned came from Anderson's near Decatur, TX. If the puppy I have now turns out to be half the hunter she was, I will be pleased. Anderson

Hunting & Fishing New bird dog.

Congrats on a wise choice (if y'all can handle his energy). Mine just made his first "live" retrieve about an hour ago. I took him out to down a few pigeons to get him ready for dove season. I am taking it as a good sign that his first real bird to handle was wearing jewelry!! Didn't know...

I use game cameras constantly for work. Reconyx is the ONLY brand I can recommend and I have pretty much tried them all.

    Rifle Scopes Nightforce scope 12-42 x 56 mm NXS .250 MOA NP - 2DD Reticle C 329

While I personally wouldn't want to hunt coyotes with a 12-42x, you may be able to get one at EuroOptic. They have several listed on their site for good prices. You should note that you may not be able to zero your rifle at 100 yards and will have limited adjustment range with the 12-42x.

Hunting & Fishing Snake boots, Wear em

The "canebrake" or "timber" rattler is probably the most docile of all venemous snakes throughout most of its range. I have come in contact with MANY over the years and have yet to have one exhibit aggressive behavior without being provoked. I have accidentally stepped on two and neither struck...

Hunting & Fishing Looking for good game cam advice.

I have used a lot of the options out there in the game camera world and have come to one conclusion. Reconyx is the only way to go. I use game cameras on the job and can't afford malfunctions. I now only use the Reconyx HC600, though one of the "security" models may be more up your alley...

Rifle Scopes Nightforce NXS vs. Leupold Mark 4 LR/T

Re: Nightforce NXS vs. Leupold Mark 4 LR/T Flip a coin. Before you could get matching reticle/adjustments on the Mark 4, the NF would be the obvious choice. Currently, I consider them evenly matched. The Mark 4 is lighter, but the 56mm objective will give you a little more stand time, if...
