Years ago I made a shooting bench top out of two 3/4" pieces of plywood that were glued and screwed together. I used a deck sealer/ stain, wiped the excess off, then went over it with three costs of satin urethane sanding in between each coat. It is ten years old now and has held up excellent.
As stated I'm sure the amount of practice varies between shooter's. When I used to compete in High Power my week point by far was off hand, so that's what I practiced the most at. I purchased the heaviest pellet gun I could find and practiced in my basement every day in the winter. Like anything...

One would think that a chamber pressure of aprox. 50,000+ psi compared to 10 to 12 thou in the gas system "M1A" that the bullet would be long gone before the bolt had any effect on the shot.. My 2 cents. (: Pete
