Love the color man. I too have an LMT-MWS but it came in factory burned bronze which I'm reluctant to blast off. What was your hardener mix on it? Looks satin finish which I like. If I may ask, is that the 18SS barrel which you cut down or is it a 16? Did Marvin Pitts do the work on that barrel? Mine came with the 16CL barrel and I have a 18SS which I might send for work.

Great looking beastie.

20161224_123020.jpg

Nothing fancy:

-Ballistic advantage ss 22" 6.5cm
-JL Billet 308/AR10 15" Angle Cut M-Lok Handguard Low Profile

-PSA EP trigger
-Ergo tactical deluxe grip
-Strike industries UDC
-American Defense AD-RECON-S 20 MOA 34 STD scope base

Just finished this California Compliant build.

I put 100 rounds through it yesterday and it ran great after I got the gas block dialed in. The SLR gas block is set to the 7th click open. The groups were @ .6 mils at 100yds, (2-ish inch)

All day long it would put 2 rounds on top of each other and then throw a flier. I hope that once I get a good copper base inside the barrel the groups will tighten up.

Aero M5 lower/upper.

Lantac BCG.

Proof carbon 18" 308 10-twist.

APA Lil bastard brake.

SLR adj gas block.

Gieselle SSAE FCG.

API carbon 12" rail. I had to go 85lbs on the barrel nut to get it lined up for the gas tube. It was either 85lbs or 35lbs, I went with 85lbs.

Vintage A1 stock.

Bullshit CA compliant kydex wrapped pistol grip.

Rifle buffer spring with Standard buffer.

KAC Micro BUIS.

Armalite dust cover rod (longer). The DPMS rod was too short.

Pivot pin was very tight. I had to do a bit of sanding on the pin and hole.

Vickers sling with MASH hooks.

Atlas B10 bipod. I will probably go with a Harris 6-9.

I am still looking for an optic. Probably go with a 12 or 16 power.

Edit due to spelling.......

My lr-308 build.

Colfax tactical lower
Dpms upper
Fulton bcg
Black hole weaponry 24" bull barrel 1:11 twist
geissele ssa-e trigger
Jp Ben cooley comp
Jp modular hand rail
Slr adjustable gas block
Accu-tac Sr-5 bipod
Accu-shot mono pod
Standard buffer and spring
Phase5 battery assist lever
Bsa ffp 4x14 scope
Vortex scope level
Weaver 20moa riser
Custom machining on the upper for a side charging handle
Fulton armory side charging handle into the left side of the bcg.
Sniper gray cerakote

Took me about 3 years to get it all together, buying pieces when they went in sale. I know the scope is cheap I'll get a better one in the future.

.65" is the best 3 shot group I've had with 168gr PPU at 100 yards. I really need to get out more and get a good 5 shot group.

It looks like the SLR adj. gas block is hitting the rail causing random fliers.
I was thinking about trimming a small groove into the fat butter section of the rail.
I haven't been able to find a smaller gas adj. gas block.

My question is;
1-If I trim a u-groove into the end of the carbon rail, will this give me enough room between the gas block and the rail?
2- Can the carbon rail be trimmed without it splintering?

Update - I just found out that the thick end of the rail has an aluminum sleeve on the inside the. I will cut a u-groove about half way through the aluminum sleeve.

I've been wondering how much impact does the gas block clearance really has. It's been common practice on bolt actions to check free float by running a dollar between the barrel and the stock. It makes me think now if such clearance is really not sufficient.

What hand guard is that?

It's a JL Billet 308/AR10 15" Angle Cut M-Lok Handguard Low Profile. They also make a high profile to match uppers that require it. I was planning on going with their 17.2" model but wasn't sure if I would then have issues accessing the gas block.

A customer requested a lightweight .308 gas gun. So, here it is coming in at 7 LB 13.7 OZ: 40 ounce16" Bartlein 5R barrel with KAC length gas system; JD Machine billet upper & lower; Fortis Switch rail; JP FMOS BCG; Larue MBT; Vltor A5 with H2 buffer; everything V Seven makes in titanium, to include muzzle brake, push pins, grip screw, mag release, etc; SLR titanium adjustable gas block. Shapeshifter Finishing, as usual, did the excellent Cerakote.

Lol, I wish my SASS was as light as your g2 recon!

I'm extremely happy with it! I just worked up the FGMM 175 grain clone load I found on here and she is extremely happy with them :D

Now I just have to work on me and my accuracy ;)

Once again, I am drooling over so much super nice hardware. Wish my budget would allow such elaborate builds. On the fly, and on the cheap (not according to my wife) I put together a pig gun because I could not afford to buy a new one. I had a shot out Bushmaster LR-308 that had a whole lot of round through it, stripped it down to it's smallest parts and refined, rebuilt, replaced everything I could afford to to create my Super Bushie! I took it down from a .308 to a 6.5 Creedmoor, and will never look back, I love it!
The link to the complete rebuild is kind of long, so here's a link to the whole story: image_53113.jpg

I am getting ready to take the dive and build my own AR 10, the information provided here will make my build a lot easier, there are a few things that you can get wrong, and then you find yourself chasing one thing after the other to get the rifle to run correctly; especially if the rifle is suppressed.

Diamondback
DB10FDE

Parts added
-Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14 scope
-EGW HD rings
-Leupold riser
-Luth AR stock, so I could use a B&T monopod
-Atlas bipod
-Giessele, Hi speed national match trigger

The rifle looks great! and shots even better.

The first time at the range (after I sighted it in) I shot four consecutive groups at 100 yards with Federal Match 175 grain Sierra bullets. The first group was in the center, then top left. I put my Silencer Co Omega on and shot the only group not under an inch on the top right and the last group was bottom right.

Here's my .308 I've been working on and finally close to finishing. Getting ready to actually go test her at the range to see that she actually shoots.

Mega Maten receiver set
Mega 20" rifle gas barrel
SLR adjustable gas block
SLR Solo Rail
AAC Brake Out 2.0
Aero NiB BCG
A5SR RE
Magpul ACS stock

Parts on order:
atlas bipod and unipod with magpul adaptor

Still need to order:
Giessele SSA-E
Scope and mount
-between NF and S&B. Was set on a 4-16x42 but the amount of 5-25x56 I see here has me reconsidering.
-mount wise I believe it will be a Spuhr mount just need to figure out what MOA base the scope I end up with needs.

- Current scope and rings were borrowed from friend for photo and use while test firing.

Under consideration:
Looking into suppressor options. At the moment I'm leaning towards a TBAC Ultra 9 with CB mount.
