6.5 Terminal Performance... is it enough to sideline the .300 win mag?

With all the advantages associated with the 6.5 I'm left wondering if it has the potential to sideline the 300 win mag for military use. It certainly doesn't have the same barrier blind or terminal performance capability as the Win Mag but it does offer a lot in a smaller package. I'm a huge fan of the 300 but it does seem to be relatively unforgiving of poor position/form... something I would guess is a luxury in a mil work environment. Anyway, there used to be some .mil guys kicking around this site. Discuss?

6.5 CM has great ballistics.
Excellent for killing game at close to medium ranges & very good for longer distance target shooting without beating you up.

However if you are looking at Terminal performance at extended distance when it comes to taking down humans or animals, it is nowhere in the same class as the .300 Win Mag, the big 7mm magnums, the .300 Norma .338 Lapua etc. Especially if you want something DRT with the first shot.

Its not going to replace the 300 wm or 300 norma. The point of the 6.5 is to replace the 308 chamberings in the m110 or scar heavy role. Two different tools
