Well tomorrow my newly rebarreled pre 64 model 70 will be at my door step with a new 24" 8 twist #5 contour 6.5x55 swede barrel on it and the modern reloading data for this cartridge is fairly slim.

I have 200rds of new lapua brass, dies, all primer types available, and would like to stick with varget, h4350, H4831sc or h1000

I have 1000 139grain scenars ready to fired, but if somebody has a great load with another good target bullet i am open to suggenstion.

My thoughts are that 4350 and h4831sc will give best results but very open to others experiences thanks.

    44.5 grs of IMR4350 has worked real well(sub .5moa)in my 8.5 twist.

    Re: 6.5x55 swede w/139gr scenars???

I have had good luck with IMR 4350 and 140gr Amax's. Sub .5moa starting @ 44grs. with WLR primers and Lapua brass jammed in 1~8" krieger 5R.
I had bad luck with the 4831sc so far and intend to try the H4350 with the same bullet.

    Re: 6.5x55 swede w/139gr scenars???

I'd start at about 43.5 of H4350 and work up from there. I've fire formed with 44.5 and had good accuracy.

let me guess u built what I wanted originally which was the ackley version. But als it didn't feed As well from the bdl. With this build I was just looking for something with a good mixture of nostalgic and new school. As long as it gets similar speeds as the 260 I will be stoked.

thanks for the info guys keep it coming

I have Kelbly's version of the 55. It's called 6.5x55 GW. I built it on a TRG 42 and it shoots well.
