Been using 24.8grs for awhile and figured I would play with it a little. Well, maybe I will try 24gr for the next shoot and see how it performs. Just under 1/2moa.

23.5" barrel, and 26gr at approx 3100fps for a 60gr bullet per the Seirra manual! 25gr did not yeild any pressure signs for me and I do not believe that another grain of powder would do so.

My Rifle: Remington Stainless Fluted Lite Varmint, in a Bell & Carlson Vertical Grip Tactical Stock. Caliber 221 Fireball.
I have been shooting 50 gr. V-Max in my 221 Fireball. I have been thinking about trying the 55 and 60 gr V-Max in it and see if it helps in wind. Losing to much velocity may be a problem with the 60 grain V-Max.
I am shooting in Lite Tactical Division 100 thru 600 yards in our local matches.
After I figure out the speed, X-Ball will tell me what the wind drift will be.

I am glad to see your small groups out of a Howa 223. If the 60's shoot out of it, they should be capable of grouping out of my Fireball as well.

i use 60g vmax's in my sons rifle but with benchmark powder to match hornadys load that shot good in it, you know that pull a couple rounds and see whats inside deal? they say its a benchmark propiatary powder, but his rifle shoots them the same as factory rounds

Re: 60gr V-Max, IMR-4064, and Wolf Primers

yeah the 60g vmaxs shoot pretty good, your velocity is a bit slow thou, my load is pushing 2975 average out of 26" Rem 700 sps varmint. these were shot at 600' asl
