Any recommendations for AR-10 based Semi-auto rifle without forward assistant?

I did some searching online and checked some local dealers, only found Primary Weapons has it

And I know a Canadian company called Black Creek Lab has one: BCL 102, but the quality seems inconsistent sometimes and using non-standard parts

I think SCAR 17 doesn't have it, not sure if anyone use it for shooting over few hundreds yards distance or it is mainly for CQB. The new SCAR 20 seems targeting for long range shooting purpose with no forward assistant.

Any other good rifles I missed? Thanks.

don't think there are too many out there for sale still since zev bought them, but look for a mega maten receiver set. also, look at jp rifles. zev is showing some receiver sets (and a complete rifle) on their website also.

Any piston weapon with a reciprocating charging handle does...from that aspect. The CH is employed as a forward assist if needed. New Frontier makes a C10 slick side DPMS pattered upper receiver. I've had great results with their upper/lower combos.

You are looking for a .308 AR without a forward assist?

Think there are more without than with.

LMT MWS is without.

Looks like their .308 in large frame doesn't have Forward Assistant, but only available in 16inch barrel.

The small frame in 6.5 creedmoore has 20inch barrel but has forward assistant.

Thanks for the information

Thank you.

Sorry, I am not familiar with LMT, I know Stag and Daniel Defense make good quality rifles, not sure how LMT compares to them?

KAC and LMT share a lot of attributes.

LMT is proprietary with their quick change barrel ability.

KAC uses a more typical barrel nut assembly.

I have a LR308 pattern rifle without forward assist. I kind of regret it now.

I don't always want to drop the bolt off of the stop to charge the rifle. Forward assist allows you to ride the charging handle down, nice and quiet, then push the bolt fully in to battery.

Hunters need that because an AR slamming shut will spook anything.

I don't hunt yet but now I know I probably shouldn't with that rifle.

The JP LRP-07 can be set up either with or without a forward assist and is available in 308, 6.5 Creedmoor and 6 Creedmoor. If you could provide a bit more detail on what you're specifically looking to do with the rifle I'd be happy to provide suggestions or go over a build with you.

Good to know that.

I just found out KAC is really expensive, but I believe that's from its engineering and quality build. Unfortunately, it goes over my budge if I am going to get a good scope for casual long range shooting too.

How's the LMT pricing like? around the 2000-2500 range?

I guess I need a semi-auto battle rifle preferably in .308, but sometimes I can use it for long range (probably around 5-800 yards) shooting too.
I have a bolt action in 6.5 Creedmoore, so at this stage .308 is good and cheaper on ammo.

You could check out next level armament, I’m running their receiver set and dlc coated bolt, I shot 1/2 moa out of it and I believe they offer full builds if your just looking to buy complete

You can probably find a gently used LMT in the PX here for +/- 2K.

They just had a sale on some South American over run guns at $1999 or something like that.

Nice thing about LMT if you can read a torque wrench you can change calibers.

Pulling the barrel to clean is also a nice feature.

Give them a look there is a sticky in the semi auto section with hundreds of posts.

Personally, I wouldnt buy any AR platform rifle without a forward assist. It can be that last little bit you need sometimes, or as mentioned already, to keep it nice and sneaky. Although, if my weapon is out, its chambered. Period.

The Hide needs to know why the rifle can't have a FA? For the life of me I can't figure out how this could possibly be an important factor in a purchase decision.

I haven't reached the right level before I can go to the exchange sections. But I will keep in mind and when the time is right, I will check with the seller to get more details.

Changing calibers is a fascistic feature for rifles.
