Rifle Scopes Any suggestions for dealing with a broken XOTIC?

A friend of mine recently damaged his XOTIC while out hunting: it was dropped (while attached to a factory savage heavy-barrel in McM stock) from a height of about 2 ft, impacting mid-bell. It left a tiny ding, but completely bent the main tube so that the objective is basically touching the barrel and also pushed off to one side.

I was astonished to say the least. I've had similar accidents with other brands, including a nearly identical fall with an SN-3, and although the ding is reasonable, the overall deformation is not.

I haven't been up to speed with the optics world in the last few years, and it looks like XOTIC is now gone? Their website is up, but that's it?

I'm really hoping he can get some kind of resolution from either XOTIC or SWFA, but is there anything else that can be done? Does anyone offer any kind of repair service?

I don't doubt that a bent parallax tube is possible, but for that to happen either 1.) they have terrible engineering and fragile materials or 2.) this is an extremely poor quality product.

This whole experience has made me extremely wary of "boutique" manufacturers, regardless of whatever quality they are supposed to have. Leupold may not be great, S&B is expensive, etc, but at least they'll be around in a decade. I absolutely love my USO, but the next time I buy a scope company size and history is going to be considered, as sad as that is.
