Rifle Scopes burris xtr 2 owners I need a little help

So I just received my 8-40 and figured first thing lets install the battery. well the manual says just unscrew the cap from the rotating knob. Well mine comes to a nice complete stop at the off mark. Some one please enlighten the obviously stupid lol. I don't even see anything that looks like it might be a cap.

Pull it off at the stop position??

well the directions are correct. I was just being to gentle with it. if you are only touching the knurled part it will move with just a little more pressure than expected.
