Gents and ladies,

Some of you are likely familiar with this product, but I thought I'd put it out there for those of you who aren't. It's called Shocknife, and it was created in Winnipeg, Canada, by a police officer who found he couldn't generate a fear response or test stress response in training with the rubber and wooden knives typically used for knife-defense training. So he tried the idea of creating an electrified training knife.

The earliest version was little more than a cattle prod shaped like a knife, but the latest incarnation - Shocknife - is fully adjustable and creates a genuine sensation of being cut. It's fully adjustable, and at its lowest setting feels like getting a paper cut; at full-out it feels like you're being cut to the bone. It's not designed to cause paralysis, as a taser is, but is indeed a localized pain response designed as a punitive measure for poor technique. As a consequence of poor judgment.

I'm linking to a video aired on the product, on a local TV station. The first instance of the product name in this link also contains a link to the company website. It's worth checking out.

I highly recommend their products. They are rugged, work, and enhance training. We use quite a few of them.
The company was great to deal with and has excellent service.

Still doesnt help if its holstered and your suspect is in arms reach. Cant approach everyone with your weapon drawn.

Re: Canadian invention to change knife training

There is no comparison to the Shocknife vis a vis wood, rubber, metal, etc trainers.
Once you try them, I doubt you will ever go back. The cost is easily justified over the life cycle of the product for training value gained.
