Does anyone have any info on cryogenically treating your barrel/action? I heard a guy talk about it but am not sure what it entails or pros/cons of this process. If anyone has any info or had it done to their rifle I would appreciate hearing about it. Thanks in advance for all your responses.

Re: cryogenically treating your barrel

Cryogenic treatment is supposed to relieve the residual metal tensile stress and result in more consistency when your barrel heats up with firing. Whether is it "worth it" and results in a "significant difference" is a matter of debate.

Re: cryogenically treating your barrel

I have a JP enterprises match barrel on my AR-15. It comes cryogenically treated from them. Its a great shooter. Very easy to clean. They swear by it.

I have also been wanting to do it to my other guns. This looks like the guys to send your barrel too. Money back guarantee!! http://www.300below.com/firearms-cryo-barrel/

Here are some older videos, but it does have some good info.

Re: cryogenically treating your barrel

My RRA National Match upper came with a cryo'd barrel. It shoots a lot better than my old upper (which also had a Wilson barrel), but the old upper had an old barrel, so who knows....

Re: cryogenically treating your barrel

Why bother with totally unproven and costly treatments, spend you money on more ammo and shooting.

Re: cryogenically treating your barrel

I tried it on a factory barrel that I was unhappy with and when I got it back I was unhappy with myself.
