Imagine that one of these deep fakes is set up to look like a hidden camera video. Grainy enough to cover any imperfections, good enough to be believable. It shows Trump and Limbaugh on a golf course at mar a lago.
Trump’s talking to the person with the camera. He uses a racial slur. And we hear the voice of Jeff Sessions, or Bannon, Mattis, Kelly, Gorka, reply. Someone we believe Trump was comfortable with, but we also believe was scorned by Trump.
Then on election eve it’s released by a fake or hacked account, and spread by social media bots.

Dangerous? Yes. But also a double edged sword in the truest sense. The side to use it first will enjoy shock and awe for as long as it takes the other side to also get up to date in it's techniques. Then it will become conventional. And highly used and abused...
