The libs in Maine made a law requiring "Ranked Choice Voting".

It was pretty much Portland and the cities that went for this mess after Gov LePage got in.

What it requires is that when you vote you vote 1, 2, 3, 4 based on your preference on the ballot.

If no candidate on the first vote gets more than 50% they erase the person that came in last than look at the votes in second preference and so forth until someone gets over 50% and that candidate becomes the winner.

So Bruce Paloquin (R) won the first vote at like 48% by more than 2000 votes over the similar percentage democrat.

Because no one had ove 50% they looked at "ranked choice" and the democrat Golden ended up winning on the second vote.

Stand by this will be coming to a neighborhood near you.

A vote means nothing. It becomes a popularity contest and it brings in the notion that only majority counts, a minoroty can not win office.

All you have to do is put a detestable enough alternative in there that will gain some vote to ensure no one gets 50% than hope you can come in second place.

You automatically get a second shot at winning and you should get enough second place votes added to your tally to make you the winner.

Likely a lefty will vote for the Dem, than the green party candidate, than the Libertarian, than the republican.

While the republican will vote for the republican than realizing the others are nuts will likely vote for the Dem than the nuts last.

So in effect on the second vote the Republican votes become Democrat votes and they elect someone other than the guy they want.

    Good scam.

How could this be remotely legal
