Was taking off my TBAC Ultra 7 6.5 yesterday and noticed I had nicked my end cap. How big of an issue is this? I've tried calling TBAC and haven't been able to reach them. It doesn't look like I had any significant baffle strikes. Will my accuracy suffer due to this being essentially a crown defect? Thanks for your help guys.

You'll probably get all kinds of opinions, but I don't think it's even worth worrying about.

I think you will be fine.

The point of the suppressor is to contain and delay the gasses. By the time your projectile leaves the end of the suppressor the gasses should mostly be lagging behind. The gas that is there should be fairly low pressure and the minor nick on the end of your suppressor shouldn't make them skew the trajectory of your projectile.

I'd find the cause and concentrate on fixing that. the suppressor will work fine as is, but if you are even getting the lightest rub mark on the cap due to misalignment of your suppressor to bore, accuracy will go to shit.

I actually had a fiber from my suppressor cover get wedged between my mount and 338 ultra, that caused it to tighten down a little crooked. The result was a shiny spot on one side of the endcap exit hole. This very light rub mark was a light strike and gave me fits trying to diagnose why I couldnt hit a 300 yard target with a 338.

Best Answer!!

I honestly don't know the time frame when it happened. I havent necessarily noticed a degradation in accuracy but i have moved it between several different rifles. Thinking about it I havent seen as tight of groups as usual so it's making me wonder....

I gotta say suppressor covers do cause a lot of issues. Material gets in the threads and you think the can is on all the way but it is not. You should always put can on first then put cover over can once can is properly mounted. I was doing a demo a demo for huge SWAT team and they were doing ON/OFF repeatability testing. First 4 shots went awesome and the guy on the trigger was saying how impressed he was and joking with some of the other snipers while I was talking to commander. 5th shot was very loud and can went down range with a 338 projectile hitting every baffle and ripping through end cap. You could see the cover material stuck on the brake on the rifle and some inside the can. The look on the guys face was priceless. They still tease the shit out of him for that.

I'm not trying to disparage TBAC at all. Was able to get ahold of someone at the office. I didnt leave a voice message because I can rarely take calls during work right now. Absolutely no slight on TBAC.
As far as knowing what round clipped the cap, I probably did it in a match during a stage, so I probably didnt realize it. Perhaps had a bullet fail. Thank you Ray and everyone for responding.
