I finally got around to testing the GS Customs 110gr .264 SP Target Bullets.

The claimed G1 BC is .594 @ 3300fps.

After testing at sac last weekend I calculate the G7 BC as .260 (driving them at 3100). This would put the average G1 BC in the neighborhood of .510. It is still the best light bullet for the 6.5 available equaling the BC of the SMK 123. They will beat the 123s because you can drive then faster but fall short of the 142 SMK at 1000 by about 4". I know that's not much but they are 3 to 4 times the cost of of SMK.

They did seem to shoot well and recoil was just very light. They would be my top choice if they cost .40 cents or less per round. Stay tuned for the GS 120gr review they look promising.

Hope this is useful to anyone looking at GS customs.

Re: GS Customs Bullets Tested BC.

I tested them for comp use... Kind of hoping to be a gamer with high dollar bullets. The 142 high BC make them better in the wind than the GS going real fast.

To 500 yards and under(the distances most stuff is killed unless you deliberately put yourself further out,a practice common on TV or when peddling Hawkemyer Scopes)I can't think of anything better than what Dave has built
Like my buddy RinB says...
"Trophy hunting is different...."

My only point was that I like the GS bullet alot for what im usuing it for.And thats not belly benchrest or sniper wanna bee.
They work very well pushed to the extreme
Cant say I'd want to run anything expensive for any kind of comp gun.

Re: GS Customs Bullets Tested BC.

Not sure why you feel the need to call names. I hunt and shoot comps and that makes me a sniper "wanna bee"? You are welcome to start your own thread about the performance in hunting applications. The SPs are not hunting rounds and I believe my review was objective and truthful.

Re: GS Customs Bullets Tested BC.

I shot GS .308 137SP yesterday in 1000m match and they proved to be excellent in the wind (spread around 20cm) however i've head terrible vertical (50cm). As we didn't have individual spotter we just fired a string after getting on paper and as wind was gusting from 0 to 5m/s results were terrible (my "on paper" rounds had 7moa to the left but match rounds had 1moa to the left and i was still 30cm from center on the left (atleast i got on target as some have missed it completely : ) ) edge of the scoring rings...bummer).
But back to GS i shot them with the following:

137SP solid hBN coated (washed away the Moly first)
Thun brass @ 51mm
RWS 5431 primer
48gr of N540
78mm COAL
Speed 2980fps

I used 38moa of elevation correction i would guess this bullet has a very close to advertised BC however i used a rather slow load for it as i wasn't able to get them to group at higher loads (49gr=3040, 50gr=3110!!!!overload with slight primer cratering in my Tikka).
