Just picked up a 308win nothing top notch nothing precision. I have couple kids and a tight budget Currently. The rifle is accurate as I am and I enjoy punching paper out at the furthest (300yd) berm at the local range. I'm really looking forward to getting out to some state land and stretching the legs on it this spring/summer and see what I can do. I've been trying to observe alot of these threads to pick up what I can. Looking at saving up this upcoming winter and taking the PRC down in Anchorage the following summer. Anyone in the area who gets together to shoot and wants a FNG to the distance game let me know.

Welcome to the Hide! I lived in Hamilton Acres area of Fairbanks 4+ years and used the range a lot that you speak of. Your best bet for bullet weight and long range performance for the .308 is 165 - 175 grain. I preferred the 175 SMK when I was competition shooting.

Thanks, I found the podcast then checked out the website and forum for ideas and was wondering if there were more members located up here in Fairbanks. I picked up a box of 150grn some 168grn and was going to wait until Saturday when sportsman's does the balloon pop sale to pick up some more variety to see what it likes to eat. Just put a vortex viper hst on it so I need to go zero it out.
