Ok, I my 7-08 did not do well with these the first time out.
5 shots each load at 100 yds.
Loaded with: ( Varget)
43.5 = 2.8"
43.7 = 2.4"
44 = 1.5"
44.3 = 1.9"
44.6 = 1.45 "
44.9 = 1.8"
OCL for all was 2.820"

I don't want to give up just yet cause I like the bullet, but don't know if this is fixable due to the wide-ass groups.

Another powder?
Different seating dept?

Its a 22" 7-08 with a 1:9 twist. Shoots 120's noslers and 150 SMK's under 1/2......

Re: Hornady 139gr SST's Help

Adjust seating depth with the load producing the smallest SD while continuing to monitor velocities.

Re: Hornady 139gr SST's Help

How far off the lands are you? 2.820" seems a little short. If you have room in the mag and chamber, seat the bullet further out. I have had good results with the SST's, so don't give up on them.

Re: Hornady 139gr SST's Help

Thanks ,
Chad, about another .020 for the mag... I think there is about .050" to the lands due to the ogive design. I can try em at mag length max and then some + that. If they will shoot I'll modify the beast to eat em!
