To each their own. I know it’s nowhere close to being worthy of work like Shortbus does, but it’s still fun. Just finished up two of them myself so I figured I could use a little inspiration from others. So let’s see those rattle can paint jobs on your blasters! If you have a technique that worked well, share it with others!

    Top to bottom:
    - textured multi-color free hand. Dark and lighter shade on the Scar 20. The lighter tan/grey color blends in really well to the clay dirt in the fields behind my house.
    - tiger stripe base, tool drawer liner used for the “snakeskin” look, and then textured multicolor over it on the AR15. Just did this for fun. Blends in pretty well with fall foliage.
    - wide tiger stripe base with two colors and then sponged over it on the AR10. By far the best camo I did to actually blend in with something. It practically disappeared into the bark!
    - custom colors with a digicam stencil on the AR15. Just a fun one to try with stencils since most of what I’ve done is free hand.

I hope this thread inspires me to go ham with the can. I’ve never mustered the courage to do optics and such.

Not being military and went thru the camo thing a while back more into doing things a bit different, thus:

one hydro dipped the other rattle can

Yea any time I paint with spray paint I do little to no prep work outside of taping off turrets, stuffing the action with paper towel, etc. that way if I want to strip it off with acetone or citrastrip it’s a lot easier.

A buddy of mine just did almost the exact same build and color as that but just did it on a Form 1 SBR instead. Nice!

Aren't Black Rifles supposed to be .....

    black? 🙃

    Some nice work there, guys.

Yea I’ve been looking into doing a wrap or hydro dip. There was guy local to me that does dips for like $100-150 where the equivalent Cerakote work would be about $350.

Only ever did one rifle in the garage with krylon. By no means did I feel it came out good initially, but it wore in pretty nicely.

I painted with many layers of OD and the shapes using different sizes of boxes cut into paper.
I later created some contrast with black permanent marker.
