Alright,

I am installing (or supposed to) an ASAP sling point on my bosses LWRC lower. Nothing to it, right? Except I notice that on the castle nut to end plate it appears they used a punch to "lock" the castle nut in place. I figure I can work around that except I want to make sure that I'm not going to invalidate some warranty from LWRC by breaking this punch mark. Any experts?

its the right way to lock the castle nut from going loose ...if you do the same and line up the rest ..no harm done i have up graded my stock ...no harm done, all is good from c.s.

No comment on warranty stuff (I have no idea, but it shouldn't be a problem). I used loctite to secure the castle nut, don't skimp on this.

My .02 on the ASAP, I'm not a fan and I'll probably sell mine off soon. It's kind of noisy, and it gets stuck under the butt stock when fully collapsed. I also find it a little annoying trying to clip into the ring.

I agree on the noise and the getting stuck in the collapsed position, but it's not my choice and the boss is always right, eh? Thanks for the advice, folks. I'll wait and call LWRC on Monday just to make sure on the warranty. He spent too much on this rifle to have something like this void a warranty. I doubt it will matter, though. Just hoping someone would know for sure.

I do like using this in conjunction with the Magpul sling as you tie back into the bigger ring on the base of the sling, despite the noise.

*Generally* you don't void a warranty, unless you alter the part in question, which then contributes to the malfunction. I.e. if the butt stock falls off it's on you; if the trigger fails they should cover it no problems. Kinda hard to eff up a lower though lol.
