New 6.5x47 Lapua build

Here is my latest build. I won't get to shoot it for another week or so because of deer season. Going to try the 123 Lapua first.
$1250 in the whole build.

Stevens 110 action
6.5x47 Lapua 27" McGowen 8tw, full bull contour, bead blasted
SSS recoil lug and trigger
Stockade bolt handle
Choate Tactical, bedded with Devcon
EGW 20moa base, Burris Sig Zee's
Vortex Viper 6.5x20x44

Looks good now you just need a paint job. Let us know how it shoots. I have had good luck with Mcgowen

I had a 28" Mcgowen on my 6.5x47 built on a 10fp action. If yours is as good as mine you should be pleased. Keep us posted.

Nice looking rifle. Make sure to provide a range report when you get the chance. I am really considering a 6.5x47 with the 123gr bullet for shorter range shooting in competition. I too have nothing bad to say about the quality of the barrels from McGowen, just there customer service, which as of about 2 years ago left something to be desired. But the barrel is chambered in 260 and shoots great.

Wow, nearly the same build I'm looking at putting together, I have the stevens 10. Really looking forward to the range report and other thoughts.

Nice rifle. I just started something similar. I worked up a wildcat based of a the 6.5x47 lapua. I hope my rifle looks as clean as yours does. I will be looking for range reports.

Looks great! Looking forward to the range report. How do you like the SSS parts and how long did it take you to get them? I have been hearing their customer service went from bad to worse lately.

The parts were great, the customer service is shit. I knew how they are, so I specifically asked if everything was in stock at the time of the order. In short, they lied and said they were to get my money. I had to wait on the trigger. I'm going to order everthing from Kevin Rayhill of Stockade Gun Stocks for my Savages in the future, and maybe try the Rifle Basix Sav2 trigger on my next build.

Range report will be in the reloading section starting in a week or so.

Good luck with it. Do you shoot up there at TVP I lived in Cambridge for a while and loved it up there. I brought my 6.5x47 up there and I thought it did really well. Hope yours works out for ya too.

I've been to TVP once. I took my first build (6br) and felt I was a little under powered for the long course. That's why I built this one. I plan on going to TVP more often next year.
