So next thursday 14 May, I will be having my C3-T1 scraped out, a plastic box along with cadaver bone put in and then a plate on the front and back placed in there. Please keep me in your prayers. This is the most major surgery I've ever had and it does scare me a bit.

I've tried Physical therapy, occupational therapy, epidurals, medications, traction and nothing has worked. This is my last resort and hopefully takes care of the pain.

This all started last September while I was in Germany for training. Shortly after I took a PT test this pain started in my left shoulder and quickly made it down to my hand. I've been in constant pain that gets up to a 6-7 by mid day every day. I'm crossing my fingers that this finally gets rid of the pain once and for all.

Prayers sent, brother. When I was about5- 6 I dislocated the C 2&3. Was paralyzed for a while until traction allowed the selling to go down, but it left me in that level 6-7 pain for most of my life. You learn to suppress it into the subconscious but that takes energy and thats energy you dont have for other things. I think that pain is why I made a lot of bad decisions in life. OH well, hore youre operation goes smoothly. I know about that nervousness. I had double cataract surgery and the thought of somebody poking a hole in yuor eyes is scary...but the alternative was blind.

Again, have faith, best of luck.

Mind was done a little higher than yours will be, an I had them use a hip spur to build mine. They went thru my neck (front) do to voice box being moved around could not swallow 1/2 jellybean for about a week. Do to spur on right hip removal, had to relearn to walk. Pain in shoulder down left arm an numbness on three fingers was gone as soon as I woke up never to return to this day, 19 years now.
I fought mine for 3 years before giving in an was told the nerve damaged I caused by being stubborn, was permanent, they were proved wrong, but it took 6 months.
Pray yours works out as good as mine. Good thing is you'll be able to go back shooting with in 2-3 weeks if yours goes as good as mine.

    C3-T1....all of them?
I've had spinal stenosis that resulted in c5and C6 being fused. Fusion didn't take.
Most of your pain should rapidly be alleviated. Nerve damage is gonna be a while. You should be a lot better than you are.

Thoughts with you. I have stenosis and bulged disks A lot of mine is caused due hip flexor shrinking due to sitting on my arse for my job and the neck I believe is due to a chiro that I saw in desperation of lower back issue. I guess stretching really was important :(.

So I feel your pain and hope you the best of luck.

All the best with it and a speedy recovery.

Bulged discs in Sept, roto router/discectomy L3/L4 and L4/L5 in Dec, three weeks of increased pain that sorta settled down, two months post-op back to pre-op pain levels+ and doc thinks the other side of disc or higher might have bulged. Going for MRI tomorrow morning to find out what's going on.

Bottom line, do as you're told post op and don't do too much too soon.

Sounds exactly like my pain. Its my pinky ring and middle fingers on left hand.

    Prayers sent.
I was in your position recently, had heart valve repair two weeks ago today. It was the first operation I'd ever had, and yeah, you could say I was scared. Hopefully wherever you're having the procedure done, they will be allowing visitors. They still aren't where I was, and that pretty much sucked for five days.
This next week will go quickly, and you be in recovery before you know what happened.
Hope you come out better than before and remember that you have guys here pulling for you!

Yep plus two different spots on the left arm. It would all go away while laying on the couch with left arm over my head. The Ortho I had/use, has put me back together 3 times now, (neck, knee & wrist) with stellar results. Pray yours goes the same.
I hosed mine working with a gorilla,10 years prior, an they said then I could go until I could not stand it anymore, I was stupid an kept putting it off,... almost until it was too late. Being stupid should hurt when it comes to thinking AMA,... an I can tell you first hand it does,..lol

Yeah I have spots all down the arm. I could never get it to go away, laying down, arm over head or anything. I would tuck my thumb in my belt to somewhat relieve the pain, but would never go all the way away.

I have t herniated discs and lost a job as. cop due to the first one . Some of he lowest points in my life were from back issues and wouldn't wish that shit on anyone . You are definitely in my prayers brother . Hang in there due what the Doc says and aet up some support ahead of time . Recovery is as or een more impoetant than the surgey .
    Godspeed .

No surgery for me, as they've never pinpointed what causes my pain. It started in 1980 when I fell off of a roof. Mild to severe pain ever since. I'll be praying for you to get some relief.

Attitude is everything . Once the shit is healed enough for PT dedicats to it and stay positive. It may take awhile it find a new normal but you'll get there and be better for it. I'm on my 4th lubar surgery. Works every time. Good luck and prayers.

Dude last year I had my C6-C5 disc replaced... Nearly 30 years after I got out of the Air Force when I originally injured my neck

i’ll probably have to go under the knife again and have the C6 C7 disk replaced.

i’m not gonna kid you you’re in for a long amount of rehabilitation.

Did you get any second opinions?

Oooph! I know that pain all too well - one night I hit a little old lady going the wrong way on the interstate without her headlights on. Miracle to be here. Two years to get back to some semblance of normal, but I had shitty doctors.

+1 on stay positive, get into a good pain management program, drink TONS of water with those pain meds ;)

Prayers sent man, good luck. Hit us up if you need any moral support.

I can't say I know that pain too well, but I can't stand very long or the lumbar area in my back starts to hurt...a lot.

As hard as it sounds, do the rehab, and not MORE. Stay with the rehab! Do as much rehab as they say. I thought, oh yeah, I can do this/that and ended up under the knife again for my knee.

A lot of the rehab I've done isn't about doing more weight, and pushing harder, it's about doing more reps. Keeping those movements moving and not trying to show you're the strongest sumbitch, they ever met. Doc freaked out when he found out I was using 200 lbs. as a deadlift workout. Get used to not being STROMBO. You'll find, you don't need to do all the tough stuff, but you'll be moving around a lot more and better.

And, DAMN! good luck with the surgery.

Good luck for sure. I've had infrequent, but serious back issues for the last 10 years. Doubt they're anywhere near yours though. Hope it all works out.

Sadly I have gotten 2nd 3rd and 4th opinions. I never wanted to do this. I was hoping that something along this road was gonna fix it. I'm just tired of the pain. Can't sleep, can't relax, can't get comfortable.

    Yes all of them, sadly.
yep, my pointer finger tip is numb...permanently But i get funny left arm at times and my elbow we now think is getting tendinitis (repaired once) repeatedly due to the nerve firing the muscle. VERY dependent on pillow and sleeping position. I'm sure one day I'm going to have to have it fixed. I blame the chiroquacker (specifically told him do NOT manipulate my neck...BOOM...he did) on this one and the doctor more or less confirmed it. Primarily stenosis but bone spur on C-6 for me. I'm really interested in how this turns out since I can see this in my future. It's very scary stuff. Lower back is messed up too; but we now know most of pain is hip flexors.

Keep us informed as to your recovery as you are able. And again, good look.

Will do. I have spurs from C3-T1. I have grown these little horns on all of them.

i totally understand. I get it.

recovery was tough...just remember to not over do it.
