Hey folks I need help. Family recently bought a used truck parts business and this place is MASSIVE, trucks are stacked right next to each other.
Yesterday we caught 2 arsonists, they are juvies so not much is going to happen to them. The fire could have been potentially catastrophic. But we constantly have trouble with resspassing vandalism and theft. We repair a fence and these fuckers have it cut open in the same spot in the next couple of days they even mark these entries with pieces of wood for thesmelves. We had a shit bag poach a fucking 14 point deer in our parts yard which is in the middle of the city, this shit needs to stop.
I need some kind of a Night vision device which helps me navigate the property which is very treacherous at night, some places you could fall and get hurt seriously.

Bonus points if this device works with red dots, I have an aimpoint on my carbine and a Trijicon RDS on my H&K VP9
I guess Im looking for something like a helmet mounted pvs-14? Will mostly use it to naviage terrain and chase 2 legged pests.
So suggestions on what to get and auxiliary gear. I attached the picture of the yard off google maps.

Edit: Id like to keep it under 4k if possible

Yes guys I get it get guard dogs, kill them feed them to the pigs, butt fuck them skin them alive and hang their carcas on the gates, use them for target practice.
After we get all the internet tough guy shit out of the way can we get back to the real world with insurance, liability, lawyers judges cops and the media?

helmet mounted PVS-14 sounds like it would be great for what you are trying to do.
Depending on which model aimpoint it should also work with the PVS-14, just put it on the lowest setting and go up in brightness until you get it where you like it.

Yeah a pvs-14 would be the starting point ... with an illuminator to see better into the shadows ... essentially an 'invisible flashlight (that the 14 can see).
You can also PM surgeon_shooter hide member ... he makes a market in lost cost 14s ...

Another idea is to set up some more lights ... and clear a path around the inner perimeter where you can drive a side by side ... or even a pickup ... then you could patrol about in a vehicle.

If you see trespassers are you going to call the cops, like in the real world sort of thing ??

Looked at the pic that DOES look massive ... and looks like there are semi-driveable paths thru there but not along the inner perimeter. :(

I guess need to understand the goal. Are you trying to keep them away or do a citizens arrest ?

Regular patrols would probably keep them away ... make them realize they need to find a new place to play ... that's my first thought. Unless you physically grab them, they will be gone by the time the cops get there. So you need to decide if you are going to physically grab them ... in the real world sort of thing ...

More lights and repair the fence ... regular vehicle patrols ... with vis lights ... you might not need to go covert ...

Our police force is small but pretty damn good and there is only 2 places where they can really parkway while causing mayhem.
So at night I would just call the police and let them know what's up.
These people mark entryways and cut holes in fences, patrols wont be much or a deterrent.
Right now arson is my biggest concern.
You cant see it on Google maps but there are thousands upon thousands of trucks stacked next to each other.
I would rather find these people in the act and impress upon them the importance on not trespassing.

After I got out of the Army I was a security guard for Hawaii Protective Association, usually at Campbell Industrial Park on Honolulu. It might be bigger than your place, but it was more organized :) ... we patrolled for trouble markers there and in other nearby industrial sites ... we had no NV or thermal, just pickup trucks vis lights and radios. In some cases we had firearms, for defense. But our general ROE was "if you see trouble - call it in - do not approach the trouble markers" ... as in we were 1 person ... they presumably were many. But that was our case, your case is your case. Just make sure you are clear on your ROE and follow them. And let local LE know what is going on.

If you want to be stealthy then PVS-14 and ir-lights will help. You can also put IR lights on your pickups or side by sides. The 14 will be able to see "fires" really well if there are any. And patch up the fences and put no trespassing signs up.
Maybe this place was semi-abandoned before you bought it ? Give them signs that the new owners are there and are vigilant and give a shit. Maybe they will find some where else to play.

you might want to invest in cameras many options and prices and your locale pd might be able to id them and prosecute. also motion detectors that alert you and call the police. any time your out their searching for them and see them your temper might get the best of you and a encounter could get you hurt or some one else hurt and you in trouble. its a shame you cant defend or protect your own property in this country and not be sued or prosecuted.

In the Pic. That a BIG area . If it a constant trouble area, That would be a full-time job to patrol and monitor for security .
You do one of 2 things ( or both) , Physical security, You have a foot patrol doing rounds . or . Electronic security, you need some Dig. Camera w/ night mode and mount on elevated mount, and sit and watch monitors .
.

I thought of cameras, but that looks like a BIIIG place ... so full coverage would get expensive. But I 5000% agree on the risk of violent encounter. In my words, determine your ROE and follow (i.e. don't make it up as you go along :) )

if i read the post right it seems like they are comming in two areas and when he does fix the fence they come back and come through the same areas. i would say they are the same little dickheads even some good trail cams might work if the police can id and arrest them. a pvs 14 would serve him good if he wants to drive around all night and try himself but i would think that would get old after about a week of no sleep, them seeing him, they run and not get caught. i would say they are juv's and this may make it a bigger game for them and more trouble. the little fucks need caught and arrested.

Well he already caught them once.

... Yesterday we caught 2 arsonists, they are juvies so not much is going to happen to them. ...

Trail cams in a few spots might pick them up and nail the times ... PROVIDED they don't spot the trail cams.

PROVIDED they don't spot the trail cams.
There are some wireless "trail cams" that can be networked together to send info to a network computer. Consider it motion detection / instant feedback... Even if they see the cam and smash it the pic is already in the network and he can press charges for expenses at that point

You can even go as far as getting cellular service units that will text them to your phone

So:

Be able to move through the area. It’s critical. SxS is good.

Scout the area outside your perimeter for good parking spots for the baddies. License plate numbers trump face shots.

Put up cameras. Networked night vision cameras. Use auxiliary IR lighting. Lorex and FLIR are excellent and reasonable.

Get the DJI Mavic Pro 2 Zoom drone. Fucking excellent and a 5 year old can fly it.

Be armed.

Kill 4 of them and put them on a Merry Go Round in pieces. Build a giant insane theme park and dress like an insane clown. Greet everyone with blood goring out of your mouth.

The last one is a Belarus only thing - don’t do that in the states or you will get a talking to.

Remember in the US that the ROe is tight.

I’ve never used them for this application but I think they would work really well, and that they would be a lot more cost effective than a camera system. Plus you can move them around as needed
