Whaddaya make of this guy? New Mark IIIs <span style="font-style: italic">are</span> a PITA at first, but how did he do that much damage?

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

That guy is a fucking clown; anyone with the slightest inclination of mechanical ability will be able tell when a part is going to fit…. And if it doesn’t fit you force it? What the hell kind of shop class did he attend? Then once he’s completely destroyed the weapon he posts it on Youtube and blames the firearm..?
….sigh that’s enough Internet for today….

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

I have to admit,I never took apart my Ruger MK III 22/45.

Runs great, if work needs to be done I'll put my trust in someone more experienced with these.

So, pray tell, how did you get the factory rust preservative off of it, and how did you relubricate it? Or didn't you?

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

The first time you take one apart it sucks a little. Each time after that it gets better. I just put a Majestic 3.2 kit in my MKIII 22/45 - it makes most maintenance much easier.

The guy in the video is not mechanically inclined.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

Well,

An L shaped pick helps for hard to reach areas and Q tips with Froglube, I dont go crazy over it.

I clean, degrease and heat before applying the first coat of Froglube.

I could still get a .22 bore-snake through the barrel.

"For those hard to reach areas ..."

Hmm. I vaguely remember those scandalous ads in the back of certain magazines.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

I hardly ever clean mine. It is a pain in the ass. This guy is still an idiot, though.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

That guy sounds stupid and screwed it up, he admitted to using extreme force the said I don't know why it broke. Not only that he was ripped off if he paid $566 for it. I've bought 2 for less than that combined.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

What a fucking idiot! How did Ruger put it together without the damage to the gun? They knew WTF they were doing thats how...

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

Good god i did not make it half way. What an idiot.
Ya they are tricky to reassemble but read and follow the fucking directions.
Or take a hammer to it

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

That guy's an idiot. I've disassembled and reassembled a ton of Ruger Mark III's and the only thing I can imagine is that he used a hammer to try to fit the parts into it when they weren't lining up properly. Probably shouldn't be allowed near a cardboard box.

They are indeed a PITA

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

Dude is mechanically inept. At the end of the video he claims he didn't force anything. Riiiiiight.... Looks like he used the grip as a hammer with how chewed up it is.

I am familiar with a good variety of firearms and fairly mechanically inclined. Few years back I offered to clean my Uncles firearms as he never did. That fricking Ruger stumped me for probably 30 minutes before I figured out how to take it apart. Glad to say though it still worked after I put it back together.

You're being generous. From the looks of it I thought he used a frigging cinderblock.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

Sounds like he's proud of his ignorance, bragging that he spent over 5 hours trying to put it back together. A little humility would go a long ways; he apparently hasn't considered the fact that he's an idiot. Based on his accent he sounds like he's got to be a Canadian, but I am unsure of their handgun laws up there so maybe I'm wrong.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

You could any to help in 5 hours?
Dipshoot.
It takes a couple to minutes Ruger pistol strip/assemble.
Break pin? Hammer?
You let people FIREARMS OWN?

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

Smart enough to post his video documentary but not smart enough to google "ruger 22 pistol disassembly"? What an idiot. It is just not that difficult to figure out and really very easy if you use one of the many videos out there on how to do it.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

Well, we know he is no gunsmith and I know there is a warning about that in the manual.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

I know what happened.

But first the Mark III have unique characteristics. It takes more than a spoon full of brains to take one of these apart now especially when you do one incredibly stupid thing. He knows what he did, but he won't mention it. He slammed the magazine in backwards and on THIS model, that is it, game over. You have to stop and read on what to do. He didn't destroyed this pistol trying to disassemble it, he destroyed it trying to disassembled with the stuck mag.

Before we begin:

1. He bought it put together. I know the shop very well, if it goes together hard it gets sent back and fixed. He never mentions that it came apart hard. That gives us the first clue, what came apart easily, now doesn't fit? Errr. not possible.

2. We are well past a passive strip here. He is punching pins. He had a reason to do that.

3. The Mark III is a real disappointment. It has a sloppy chamber, so sloppy that is confounds its history for excellent suppression. Now there is a very distinctive chamber POP on every round fired. Nothing you can do to fix it except get a much better barrel and chamber.

4. The safety indicator is a POS and allows for more crap into the chamber area.

5. Next is a real issue, no longer will the MARK III allow for cycling when the mag is out, ZERO. Nor can you drop the hammer with the mag out. Now those that know the MARKS will remember reassemble trigger pull to allow the hammer to drop for the final back strap spring plunger placement.

6. That same cycling lock out cooks the mag dropping free when released. In other words, every earlier model allows for the mag to either fall to the ground when released or at least partially eject out enough to easily grab. I've seen IIIs that hardly budge when released.

7. But that is not what happened here. The reverse mag is end game. Without a special tool, its 20 minutes.

So...here you go, what follows is what happened and what he SHOULD have read.

BTW - Two q-tips and one .22 snake and this and your done, PLUS the extra pieces END the mag drop and the cycling issue:

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

WOW!!!! He makes the list of "FUCKING RETARD OF THE YEAR" It makes me sick to here him speak. Never in my life have I herd of such a problem with ruger. Is this guy for real? Now I have seen it all.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

This thread inspired me to bypass the usual cursory cleaning and go for a total break down on my 22/45. Came apart super easy but on the reassembly the hammer did not fall forward so nothing worked..... Went back and watched more of the youtube videos and saw one where the guy said to shake it with the muzzle pointed down. Voilla! Worked like a charm so I did it again just to try and get it down. Only took a couple of minutes. Pretty much not a big deal once you get the hand of it. It was very nasty inside so I now see the cursory cleaning didn't do a whole lot.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

That "extra spicy" nastiness is the result of the loose clambering and the resulting blow back..

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

I am proud to say that it only takes me 15 seconds to field strip my MKII gov. target. I waited 13 minutes for this movie to load on the slow as wifi here and it was worth the laugh. Although I don't appreciate someone shit talking a firearm because of their incompetence.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

Haha, good one Veer G. I was wondering WTF he was talking about.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

That little hanging leg of the hammer has to be dangling when you put the mainspring assembly back in the gun.

5 hours of frustration can be saved by knowing how to put it back together before you attempt to take it apart.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

I love how you can tell by his tone of voice he is SO furious at his "defective" parts! What a tool haha.

Don't get me wrong, everytime I get a new toy, I tear it apart for shits and giggles. But if I were to break something, I at least know it's my fault.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

By way of an epilogue to the story:

Yes, I think he's Canadian, and sounding very, very mall ninja-ish, to boot (to <span style="font-style: italic">"bout"?</span>) ...

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

What a dumb ass!!!
I would love to see him to try doing a brake job on his car.

Re: Ruger Mark III nightmare video

He's trying to tell us that one of the most popular and top selling rimfire pistols for the last god knows how many years is "junk" because he couldn't figure out how to take put it back together...at least that's I gathered.
