Hello fellow hogs or pigs..: )

Question, will a Nikon M-223 survive or even work on a Rem700 .308 with badger rings...? I know they are designed for AR15's but my brother has one and he wants to give it away so he said I could have it if I wanted.

I am not very familiar with this scope, I will be shooting out to 800 yards...but my biggest concern is will it survive and stay centered at zero with the larger round...?

I only ask because free is free and I tend to put a but more emphasize on the skill of the shooter over the scope, just not sure this scope can handle the recoil...

thanks brothers..

The scope will last longer on the bolt gun. No forward recoil like that on a AR.

And with the right load you "might" get the bdc teticle to match up.

give it a shot, it was free, the worst that could happen, break it, have nikon fix it, mount on 223 next time, get a new scope for the 308. i haven't tried it, so i don't know. as for the bdc, it matches with a few 308 rounds i tried

Opticsspecialist, with regard to BDC which rounds did it match with...?

thanks...yeah if it breaks I will get it fixed and put it on my AR15...then buy the L Mark 4 or Monarch X...something like that with mil-dot illum...

thanks again...!

If you get a chance, check out this blog about a M223 on a 12 ga. slug gun:

Steve had a last minute failure from a product, you'll read what happened and his reactions, but he had to go to a H&R 12 gauge slug gun and a M223. Held up perfectly for him and he bagged a doe and buck with it. Very good read.

The M-223 will hold up just fine on a .308. If you have the BDC reticle check out Nikon's Spot On Ballistic Program so that you can enter your load data and get the corresponding distances for the BDC circles.
I love shooting .308 rounds long range. Furthest I have shot is 600 yards but hopefully one of these days I'll get a chance to shoot on a 1000 yard range.
