I'm a college student and I've been handloading for my savage .308 for a few months now. So far I've tried IMR 4895 and 4320 behind hornady 150 fmj's.

I'm just curious if anyone has their own formulas for high accuracy.

I think I'm moving towards IMR 4064 behind hornady 168 grn a-max's.

Thanks,
Tim

45.5 Varget and 175smk @ 2.810 seems to work in every Savage 308 I've tried. It's pretty stiff but OK. Do Follow proper load workup procedure though.

ETA: This load went 2650 in my slow(ish) 24" barrel, and 2750 in a fast(ish) 26" barrel.

I've had great luck with AA2520 and 168gr Nosler Custom Competitions. My stock Howa will shoot around 1/2 MOA with these components and might get better with a different powder. The Noslers work great and can be bought at a great price too in the bulk packs.
