Rifle Scopes Scope option for SCAR 17s .308

I picked up a SCAR 17s (.308) yesterday and the only glass I have laying around is a 1.1-4 IOR Valdada CQB. So for now that's what I will use.
Assuming its as nice a shooter as my 16s, I will want to put something "better" on it.
I may hunt whitetail with it (probably use my 7mm mag)but I plan to have is as a general battle rifle. Maybe a heavy metal 3 gun.
I am looking for advice on what is considered ideal for this platform and cartridge.
I am drawn to the new S&B 1-8, but was unsure if I would benefit by having more on the top end? (I hear its so clear its like a 10x). Maybe NF 2.5-10 "ish"?? What are your thoughts? Budget is less a a concern, it might just take me longer to save up

The IOR 1.1-4x will work. A 1-8x scope would rock on it. I know a few guys that have been running an ELCAN 1.5x / 6x and they love it.

If I may ask... how is the accuracy on the SCAR? I really want one. In fact, passed on the 5.56 waiting for the 7.62. I handled a 5.56 SCAR at the SO/LIC show a couple of years ago and loved it. Ergomomics and design are just great. One of those guns that just... fit!

But if the 7.62 it's going to shoot a pattern, not a group... I'll pass.

Does it at least shoot MOA?

I agree Jay, the Swaroski 1-6x would be a very good way to go.

The IOR Spartan is a fun scope and it will get you out to distance quickly.

So many good choice some many good rifles so I just say get one of each!!!

I was expecting to hear some folks recommend something with higher magnification than what was recommended.

I plan to sight in the the IOR tomorrow and go from there. I think I have an itch for something with a higher power mag, just not sure if its justified

our guys are taking their scopes off their mk12 (nightforce 2-10x) and using those on em and loving them. the rifle is pretty damn accurate, and a 1-8x would be my reccomendation, thats what i'm putting on mine most likely.

You should at least look at the new S&B 1-8 Short Dot, it looks to be an outstanding CQB optic.
