Screwed up the shoulder. Safe to fire or not?

While adjusting a new set of RCBS dies, I screwed up on the seating depth, had the lock ring to high up on the die and the outcome is a .308 cartridge that has a shoulder that looks like a Weatherby cartridge.

Is it OK to fire-form this cartridge? It is just the one cartridge. Or should I chalk it up to a learning experience and toss it?

The load is a CCI 200, 41.5 gr of 4895 and a 168 SMK.

TIA

Re: Screwed up the shoulder. Safe to fire or not?

It probablt wont chamber. If I understand correct, the seating die applied a heavy crimp, pushing out the area where the shoulder meets the body. If that's correct, it most likely wont chamber. That's also a great way to lock up an autoloader pretty good, just don't ask me why I know this...

Do not run a loaded round through your FL sizer. With the stem removed it will put too much tension on the neck and bullet and most likely deform the bullet. Just pull the bullet and salvage what you can or trash it.

I knew exactly what you meant, and that is what will be done this weekend or next.
