Looking like Thursday 12/31 is still a good day for me. As I plan on winning the Lotto Wednesday night, it might affect my shooting plans but I guess I still might come down even if I'm neveau riche!

It's Mrs. Q's Birthday and I'll never leave the dog house if I go shooting, though it would be a wicked cool day to go. Supposed to be as cold as it gets down here in sunny FLA!

No ability to blame barrel overheating for my misses!

Hey Jamesz71, I would go but I have been in bed with the flu for a week. Been sick a total of almost 2 weeks. Worst thing I have ever had.
I will get with you guys on a sunday shoot soon.
Have fun and shoot some rounds for me.
Its a sad day when you have fired even 1 round in 3 weeks.

i know how you feel,this was the first time out in a few weeks

i loaded up some 110gr hornady spir points with 45.6 grains of varget and it shot really well for being about 35 degrees with winds of 15mph (the target was swaying back and forth about 4inches)measured the gruops (3 shots)and it looks likes .0475 out side to out side at 100yrds so that would be .0175 if i subtracted .030 right

is this right

center shot was cold bore
top two were the follow ups
then i switch targets to warm up the rifle after about about 10 shots
then the 3 in the x ring
the last shot was the one 10 o'clock the wind pick up to a 20mph gust

Hey guys I'm in the Miami area and would love to shoot at Manatee also. 3 hours is a long drive so to make the most of it I would like to stay in the area for a couple of days. Does anyone know if there are any hotels near the range. Miami has nothing longer than 100 yard ranges. To shoot past that I depend on a training academy that I'm involved with, and I can't go when ever I want. Any info you can give me would be great.

there are few off SR-70 & I75 and SR64 & I75
they are about 23-25 mile from the range

Hey Guys, I am still alive. Man 3 weeks of that flu crap almost killed me. But I am back. Time now to get my butt in gear and start shooting again. I will be checking in later this week.

There is a 1000 yard match Saturday a.m., if anyone wants to participate. Starting at 9:00, it will end at around 11:00. These are held on the west end of the line and all the other positions not used by the match participants, will be available to other shooters.

Man I really wanted to go. I have so many different things I am involved in, everything is planned weeks in advance. Let me know when the next shoot is.
At least I kicked the Flu bug. Ren know the secret formula I used.
It is called self pickling process. Go to a high altitude and drink untill you are pickled enough to kill the Flu. Works every time.

Sounds like everyone had a great time. Be there next time.

QQ.. No problem man! Your loads do really well out of my rifle as well. I had some 190 smks that I shot after you guys left that did really well. It was still 3.8mills to 500M. Planted 6 out of 6 on the Steel that we were all beating up on...Ill be loading some more of those.

Any one going to Manatee next Saturday or Sunday.???

I am actualy trying to find a place to shoot 1,000 yards or more up there in Colorado. There is a range but it is closed in the winter. Working on getting permission to use it. Snowmobile & snowshoe in and shoot.
The temp could range anywhere from 30 degrees to -30 below and then add wind/chill factor after that. The coldest I ever saw was 34 below no chill factor calculated, but there was only a 3 to 5 mph wind. It was about 4:30 am driving back to Denver. I own a condo there and go at least 2 times a year. We also rent it. The picture was at 11,468 feet.

Maybe Tony. Though it depends on whether I decide to avoid the most boring duty I have yet endured while escorting one of my daughters to an athletic venue...

If I don't have to follow the bus containing my youngest daughter (and her merry band of rowing maniacs) to Melbourne at 05:30 Sunday, then do nothing but read until my ass is cramped all to hell while 5000 rowers from all over Florida wait to compete on the ergometers staged all around the Gymnasium of the Florida Institute of Technology... It's noisy, a little smelly, no fun at all for anyone including the kids and I can do nothing productive for the kids other than be an ATM...

If I go I don't get home until 7:00 PM...

The range report: Cold, Windy, great training exercise on reading the wind. Shot at all the different spinners and gongs with great success.

My next trip will be in 2 weeks. Next week is Superbowl.

too funny ! I remember those days...and the sounds of the "human powered fans" ! Still have 2 Kaschper shells, and when she comes home from college for a visit, we always go rowing a morning or two.

Watching the kids erg is rough, but the rowing is amazing. One wouldn't think so as merely a spectator, but I find it the apogee of teamwork and focused power. Good that you can row with your daughter. I don't think there is a shell made large enough for old offensive tackles but I'd love to try sculling in one of those stream lined shells. Oh well, thats what row boats are for!
