8 working days ago i put in an order for 11 cans at YHM... they shipped yesterday...

can you believe it? constant red tape, setting on somebody's desk at ATF, etc. are all part of the transaction. the last time i did this it took 16 weeks... i even have a friend that has been waiting since april for his form to clear.

apparently the sun is shining on me a bit today. does this mirror your findings with ATF or has the workload and the handling thereof improved?

I assume they shipped to an SOT, right? It usually only takes a week (two tops) for dealer-to-dealer transfers.

yup. they did. funny thing was when i called YHM, they advised that typical times for ATF to process the form were running 12 to 14 weeks.

i'm tickled it moved quickly. i was prepared to see them when the snow was melting...

Typical Form 3 transfers (Dealer to Dealer) are running around a month or more right now and Form 4 transfers are running around 5+ months.

Thats the average unless you get lucky.

ive never had a form 4 take more then 3 months.

recently just picked up 4 that only took 7 weeks.
I think they have hired on more examiners and its helping out obviously.

My cousin lives not to far from me and is a few years older, so he was starting his NFA item collection earlier then myself. Long story short, he used to get approved SBR and silencer paperwork back in 2-3 weeks!!!!! that was a couple years ago though. I wish that was the case now!

i'm told the paperwork is assigned alphabetically. i don't know about this, but i can tell you i was shocked for the forms to have cleared so quickly. pleasantly surprised for sure...

made for a nice holiday.

I'm still waiting on a form 3 transfer (SOT to SOT) since 9/3/09. Order was through PoliteSocietyInc.com. Not the best folks to deal with, at least lately.

Meanwhile, I'm <span style="font-style: italic">still</span> patiently waiting for the can that I sent the paperwork for in April, that was approved in July, and whose paperwork never arrived.

Ordered a can in july and took 3 months. Waiting for the next one, that i bought in september.

Forms are assigned alphabetically based on the first letter of the company name to a specific reviewer. Some are faster than others, some have less/more work than others. Its a crap shoot. Luckily our reviewer at Griffin armament has been fairly quick, 8 days though i think is some sort of record.

i don't do a huge volume of these, so i really never know what to expect. i put in my order with YHM and had them on my doorstep in fourteen days or so...

that is the way it should be, but... i suppose i better stock up on karma as i'll be waiting for months the next time around...

I'd say you got pretty lucky on that one. Everything in stock, ready to go, and didn't get side lined by anything. We have some we have been waiting almost two months on.
