What is your preference for spotting while shooting PRS rimfire matches, spotting scopes or binos? Most of our stages are out to 200 yards with some reaching out to 350 yards. I am looking at getting spotting gear but am on the fence which way to go.

Sorry if this is in the wrong area, but I specifically only wanted rimfire opinions.

I started using reticle spotting scopes so I can gauge size of target / wobble zone / wind calls. If I'm just spotting for impacts to help scoring, then I use my binos for wide FoV and for ease of use.

This is my current setup. Burris 12 Elite, Vortex Ranger 1200 & Kestrel or phone.

8x42 Bushnell Forge on a Virtex Pro GT. Easily spotted .22 impacts at 250.

I am curious as well. I am taking both (Bushnell Forge 15x56 and Leupold Mark 4 12-40x60) to the next two big NRL22X matches coming up. I suspect high power binos would be more comfortable for long periods behind glass.

When you get a chance, could you throw up a photo from the front? I would like to see how you mounted the Kestrel and spotter. Tango Yankee.
The Kestrel is mounted in a Kestrel Clamp and a cheap Amazon attachment. I don't get any wind from it being mounted. Its just there for ease of getting the info I need instead of being in my hand. I have both hands free.

Here is the mount. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G7RMFWW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

With more clubs opting to use the NRL22's "option 2" of the course of fire sheets....the need to see farther is gonna be important than the traditional 100yd and in spans.

My local clubs often ask shooters to bring spotters since they are the ones who are spotting (squads handle spotting/scoring for the stage they are on and responsibility rotates with the shooter's on the line).
