"tactical helmet"

Re: "tactical helmet"

No, but it's what my buddy runs and it seems to be a pretty good option. The mount cost a fortune, though. I do have a PVS-14 but if I bought the helmet setup then I would have to buy an PEQ-15 IR laser for 2 grand. It never ends.

Here is what I rock, super heavy until you have to fight underwater. Just kidding. Superlite 27B Commercial dive helmet.

Re: "tactical helmet"

PT Alpha is a good helmet. Many online vendors won't sell any higher level "tac helmets" with ballistic protection to civies.

The PT alpha works well. Depending upon which mount, monocular, it would be a good idea to get or make a counterweight to mount on the rear of the helmet to balance everything on your head.

For the PVS14 Mount, if you can afford it I'd recommend the Wilcox G24 Mount with the Wilcox J-arm it will attach to the Opscore VAS shroud which is an option for the PT Alpha Helmet, if you purchase from Victor at TNVC. It is heads and shoulders above the Norotos USGI "Rhino" mount with the USGI J ARM. The USGI J ARM doesn't lock up 100% solid, the Wilcox does and has easy push button adjustments and quick and accurate swing arm adjustments from Left to Right eye.

With any mount don't forget to purchase a safety lanyard to clip onto your monocular unless you can afford to purchase a new tube or monocular.

Gavin the Wilcox G24 easily allows you to go from non shooting eye to shooting eye wit and AIMPoint without needing an IR Laser. Not 100% optimal but it actually works well.

Re: "tactical helmet"

Ops Core helmets are great but... extremely difficult to get one even if you have the money. Last time I spoke to them they were back ordered "7 or 8 months". Who knows what that translates to in real time? I ended up getting my helmet from OM Tactical (Paul Fishwick - formerly of RBR is the guy to talk with), my mount from Wilcox (as stated above, they are state of the art) and a counterweight pouch from SOE Gear (John Willis). Put together the kit is better than anything I was ever issued and the price was right.

Re: "tactical helmet"

Maybe try to find a older PASGT and convert it to the NEW upgraded padding system.

That is what I have... The helmet offers some protection and with the new padding its VERY comfy... It can be drilled for NV attachments......lights...etc..

Re: "tactical helmet"

that works. I have one with upgraded to Oregon Aero Gel Pad system & it is pretty comfortable. fits real cushy & form fitting .

Only thing is ( it is a heavy helmet ) & you wear it for long night of hunting & you start to feel it @ about 4-5 hours.
but when you got NV counter-weight hanging off the front of your head the heavier helmet & high-grade Pad system does handle it real good ,

Re: "tactical helmet"

My vote goes for the OPS-Core. I was using a Pro-Tec and while they are nice with a PVS-14 and a IR light it tented to move around. Just got the Ops-core military base jump and everything is much more stable primarly due to the suspension system. And I ordered direct from Ops-Core and it took about 6 weeks.
