Re: The best gun smiths?

Wow.

That is a great question. I, and many here, would be happy to help you with that however let me make a recommendation first. Although the search engine here is not that great, you will find that we have another, one that can be found here http://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=010955838166721108978:qcbx5qqy10o&hl=en
If you try looking for your answer using this search method, I’m sure you will not only find what you are looking for, but you also may find answers to other questions you may have not asked yet. Although your question is new to you, it is one that has been asked here many, many times. I’m sure you will be able to uncover the exact information you are looking for. Why don’t you try finding your answer with the above search tool, and then come back to us if that doesn’t work for you.
Thanks for your time, enjoy Sniper’s Hide

Re: The best gun smiths?

Red Jacket is pretty much tops. I'd just call them for any of your custom Dremel work, or ridiculous "inventions" of theirs...

Re: The best gun smiths?

Please use the search engine to find the info you seek.

Re: The best gun smiths?

I'm as good as 'Will', same techniques, just that I don't do 'custom' work anymore, don't have to pay a couple of dipshits and don't have a skanky daughter at my side!!!!

Oh, and don't have a fettish for AK's and Saiga shotguns! Do have a soft spot for things that make a 'big' boom though.

Barred windows and an always locked door......where else is that common.......hummmmm.......nuthouse? Nooooo.......State prison? Nooooo.....sleezy motel?....maybe....

If you don't get the joke, then you should have searched on your own.

Re: The best gun smiths?

Depends on what you call gunsmithing and what you want done.
For bolt guns, I'd have William Roscoe build it.
For 1911's, I'd have Clarks build it.

There are a lot of manufacturers out there who do custom work, such as SpringField, GA Precision, Les Baer.

Re: The best gun smiths?

The best are guys who don't work on anybody else's weapons but there's,

Re: The best gun smiths?

Xris, keep asking your questions. Unfortunately you'll have to weed through some of the BS, but such is life. Plenty of good people on here that are willing to help when asked.

Re: The best gun smiths?

Bill Calfee seems to be the most sought after smith in the rimfire world. The only thing is it takes a year to get a gun. Also he raised his prices to an unaffordable range. People were ordering guns for like $2500.00 then once delivered they would turn around and sell them for five grand. I guess that didn't sit well with Bill so now he charges around five thousand for a gun. I wouldn't let those Sons of Guns install a drop in trigger on a Remington or screw a suppressor on an already threaded barrel. They suck. I would like to have that vertical mill they use however and for some reason I'm compelled to watch the show every week. It's kind a peek through your fingers with your hand over your face kind of thing.
A Calfee gun. He always names them and I don't think you have an option on the name.

This is the type of precision required to be competitive in the rimfire game
