The "New" Barrett MRAD Thread!!!!!!

Looking for scope mount recommendations. I have an MRAD (.308 and 300NM - .338NM possibly in the future) and just purchased a NightForce ATACR 7-35x56. I am open to recommendations for a mount - NF, Spuhr, etc.
I have the Nightforce Ultra-Mount on my work gun and on my personal ATACR and love it. If you need a diving board the Ultra-Mount has a really rigid buttressed diving board that has very little deflection compared to my SPUHR. The LaRue LT845 also performes well.

I just attended the annual Ranger Rendezvous and the The 75th Ranger Regiment is using the Barrett MK22!

No time soon, unfortunately. I spoke with the military program managers from both NightForce and Barrett. Both had the same story, there are no current plans to make the SOCOM version (tan) of the NightForce ATACR 7-35x56 available to the public - they are focused on meeting their military contracts. So, I ordered the black version of the scope from NightForce and asked them to anodize or Cerakote the scope to the SOCOM color - no joy. Swatdude1, above, had his Cerakoted - looks great.

NightForce calls it a tan, hardcoat anodized finish
You would think Nightforce could have matched the rifle's Coyote Cerakote for less than a whole different anodized than they normally offer. As much as I would like to have the letters "MK22" on my Barrett, I actually prefer the FDE over the Coyote.

Anyone know what the max barrel OD is?

It looks like the barrel extension OD is 1.49”
Unsure what the max OD the hang guard will accept.
I don’t own a MRAD but if I could use a 1.35” OD barrel for a 33XC build, I might consider getting one. I’d have to switch from my AXSR first.

Max OD is 1.247" with smallest diameter of 1.098 between the 1-3/16" x 18 threads and the bolt face of 1.103. Bugholes has the capability to do Barrett MRAD extensions now. I got a Bartlien 300PRC MRAD Barrel from them that shoots 1/4 MOA at 200 yards with the factory Hornady Precision Hunter. I'd like to get a .338 EnABELR Barrel for my MRAD but knowing next to nothing about bolt guns, was wondering how much chamber thickness is acceptable for these high-powered rounds.

And now they have none! Thanks to me... I had a 300 prc in that color on order and since this showed up switched :)

I had gotten a 300 prc kit a few months back so.. it all works out!
You got a smoking deal!!! They are going for north of $7,000 on Gunbroker... that is if you can find one.

I think the enabler is too fat, Chase Stroud was shooting one in a cadex system at the NF ELR Shoot, I believe it requires a Cheytac size action. You could single load a 33or 37XC in the MRAD. I heard a rumor Barrett is working on a .375 for the MRAD maybe akin to the .375 ruag.

FYI, I was in Outpost Armory, south of Nashville, on Saturday and they had two brown MRAD's (folding stock) for $5k each. I didn't look at the caliber. These are NOT listed on their website.

What other accessories can I add? 🤣

Area 419 ARCA-Lock Universal 12" Rail, Better Grip (MPA), Cheek pad and a sling. The 419 ARCA fits flush with the end of the rail (post 1373). Took me a few try's to get the correct fasteners but It is rock solid now. DO NOT Apply the Barrett recommended torque for the Picatinny rails to the ARCA. You will crush the channel and wind up buying another. Ask me how I know.

I have a small arca plate for my rrs-3 just forward of the mag well. I actually swapped out the factory grip for a plain A2, considering the https://www.ergogrips.net/shop/tdx-0/ but kinda happy with the A2. Overall very happy with how it shoots.

Been following this thread for a long time but I just got my MRAD today so I figured I would join in. I got FDE is 308 to start with but I want to get a few more barrels that's for sure. My order was placed in Feb and I wasn't expecting it quite yet but I'm glad it showed up. Now to decide on a scope and tripod for it.

I ordered a 300PRC FDE in August from Hinterland. Supposed to get it in the next week or two. I wound up buying one off Gunbroker prior to Jan 21st because I was unsure what the next administration was going to do. My buddy said he would give me what I paid for the GB one ($6,616). Based on some of the recent prices they have been going for on GB, I'm hesitant to put it on there. I was thinking since Barrett is pausing civilian sales they would be going for north of $7,000 by now.

I wasnt going to buy one for awhile and had been watching GB I placed a 5200 bid on one and it went for 5232 then the same broker put another one up so i placed a max bid at 5232 and got it and then the same broker put a Daniel Defense DD5 V5 hunter up i placed a 2k bid but went to 2225 and won it usual retail is 2999 and veterans discount for 2599 is the price frenzy over now

I just received a NightForce ATACR 7x35-56 T3 yesterday. I have a Spuhr mount and will get it set up this week on my MRAD MK22 and take it to the range after hurricane Ira blows through Nashville. Hooah

The Eurooptic deployment package at the price they were offering it for should have come with that scope in my opinion.

Yeah I second this. I asked too and was told exact same thing when I ordered the T3 7-35 ATACR. Also, I was surprised to get mine so much quicker and much cheaper than I anticipated. Would be nice to get that Tan/bronze anodize they have which goes really nice with that MK22 color. Wait a couple of years perhaps we’ll see this as a display sale from Euro Optics.

We’re cutting barrels for these on our CNC for $550. That includes all machining labor on your customer supplied parts. All of the threading and chamber work at each end of the barrel plus flat spots on the extension and lock ring for a 1-3/8” wrench. Pictured is the first one I did on my manual lathe but now we have it in our CNC so the finishes are cleaner. From what I’ve seen the extensions are extremely consistent so I can cut a barrel blank as a prefit for you and ship directly without having your other parts here.

You got a reamer list? With those flats is that how you’re torquing it to 140ft lbs?? I think that’s the spec off the top of my head.

I have over 200 reamers right now and I don't have a listing of them. If you need it I probably have it. If not I'll order one and if it's a very unusual cartridge that I'll likely never use again I'll charge a 50% tooling fee. Can't remember the last time I actually had to do that though. Most of those guys supply their own reamers and I have a separate drawer of customer supplied reamers that are only used on their guns. Yes on the torque.

Also my turn around time is two weeks max right now.
